So what is the plan for the CH 47?

So now that we got the Chinook in early access, how are the plans to move on?

Plenty of bug reports have been handed in, so the team should have a solid feedback now and is surely prioritizing their work. So what is the first on the to do list, and what aims are there timewise.

I know it is early access (and I'm happy to fly it) but it feels even "worse" than the Viper release a couple of years ago.

- Flight model really very strange

- Almost no systems included

- Radios aren't useable

- Keybinds are weird as well (you can't map the mfds, but you can map all the circuit breakers)

So what is the plan now? At least a very rough one? As I said it is fun to have it, but for me right now it is like a "Flamming cliffs helicopter" not a high fidelity module.

It sure will be one day, and I'm looking forward to this.

Before you call everything a "bug": RTFM & try again! Thank you. :music_whistling:

@Silver_Dragon Great link, but doesn't say anything to any priorities or timeline.

I don't think we have shared any priority lists. If everything took the same amount of time and no possiblity of complications then a priority list would be easy.

I'm quite sure the OP is looking for something like this. If not, then I think something like this would be helpful.

I think they did that for the Viper only, since then we haven't had anything similar for any other EA modules I can recall.

Maybe so, but given that it launched in a pretty bare-bones state (it’s basically unable to taxi, for example), it might be a nice gesture to show the plan.

And if you manage to get it in the air the physics of straight & level flight really make me feel like I’m wasting my time. Trim out the airplane, then take your eyes off the attitude indicator for 2 seconds and you’re in a 90 degree NU unusual attitude 🤣

It has to be hard to develop something like this without people testing and playing with it in early access. Limits of its use will be a fact during this time. Still fun for some but others will wait for it to develop more. I have no idea its direction but it would be a shame if the Cargo is like now limited to picking up light weight stuff all the other Choppers can haul. I want to pick up mobile artillery units haul them to FFB Gloria on the highland in Viet Nam under fire.

Most people understand early access and know it is work in progress and active development. Some do not, and have no patience but we understand that and the need to vent and be critical, fortunately the majority of the feedback we get is good and helps us.

For now we are getting the initial feedback from the launch and focusing on various tasks for the CH-47F, also refining the cargo feature. We will share more news as we continue, and have passed on the request for a list.

thanks

No taxi? Then you are doing something wrong. For me, it almost works by itself. Even if you have to steer. Maybe start the training mission again?

My problem is trimming as described by LavaFlight. And I don't really want to use Bob for that.

If you turn in the system sel to both it flies reasonably stable.

For me taxiing is doable especially if the levers are set to flight instead of ground. I am not sure if they are supposed to be on flight for taxi.

It would probably be more descriptive if those levers were labeled Ground Idle, but this is what they are labeled in the real thing🙃

I would want to hear what @Brickle or @HMSSURP would have to say, but I would think that if you were to introduce pitch for any reason, even ground taxi, you would want the rotors at flight rpm, not idle.

Wags commented on a YouTube video and basically said that the AFCS and assorted flight control goodies are the highest priority.

I’ve spent a while in it as a submersible and haven’t stopped laughing.

Hopefully, since I can happily submerge and flood the cabin we’ll be getting speedboats or ribs to float into the back of it? ED just have to let us load vehicles on and off it somehow.

As the late James Brown once said “I don’t want nobody, to give me nuthin, just open up the door, I’ll get it myself”. So come on ED, open up the door, make us all go berserk. 🙂

For now, I’ll go back to watching the waves wash over me portholes 😄.

The Chinook quick start guide tell us to put the levers to flight (idle), it´s within the engine start procedure. So for ground taxi the levers already should be in flight (idle)

I find the flt model to be decent enough.  She behaves as the real acft does on the ground in a 2 wheel taxi.  1 1/2 2 in aft cyclic and pull thrust.  Fwd gear off and then reduce thrust to get a fwd roll going.  Once the LCTs, DASH and DAFCS are incorporated it’ll be better. In all reality, the aircraft will handle like “bob” is flying when DAFCS and everything else is running.
