Several folders could end up empty, if there's no files to convert. Also make sure you have the latest version of the script. For the record I did have files get generated for the ch47f

AFAIK, i have the latest version of both. Was my directory right? Once the script is done, do i move those files that were generated into the corresponding folders and overwrite?

Assuming that F:\DCS World\ is where you installed DCS, then yeah your folder is right. Did you run the "Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted" command in PowerShell7 as administrator?

Yes, tried it all twice and there are still empty folders

Also, texconv and the script were re downloaded this AM so i have the latest versions

I also noticed in the instructions that theres supposed to be a ./Mod folder created but i havent seen that either.

wait if there's no Mod folder, then where are you seeing the empty directories being created?

EDIT, the Mod folder that gets created would be this one:
C:\Users\MyName\Desktop\Reduced Texture Mod\Mod\Mods\aircraft\CH-47F
 

so it seems like the script is running, in that its creating the folder structure and all. If its not actually generating files though, I think either the "Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted" command is not taking, or maybe you don't have sufficient drive space on C drive, or there's nothing to convert.

for the record, in my Mods\aircraft\CH-47F\Cockpit\Textures folder I have a Cockpit_CH-47F_Textures.zip which ends up being 1.5 GB (vs the default 3.X GB)

you should also have a CoreMods\aircraft\CH-47F\Textures folder with a ch-47f.zip of around 500 MB

i'm not really supporting this app, if you want to sort it out here, that's fine I'll try to help, maybe @zbysiek might have some thoughts why its not working for you.

@zbysiek  Thank you for all your work and the support time you are investing, it is much appreciated. 

What baffles me is if this is so successful in reducing storage requirements as well as improving performance (as it seems to be) why oh why hasn't it been incorporated into the main program, at least as an option?  Why has there been total silence from the ED team regarding this script?

Massive props to @zbysiek for his assistance in getting this working. I was doing everything right, the script just got funky so thanks there. Now that i did get it working, i noticed an issue with the F4. Some of the textures are messed in the pilots pit and im curious if anyone else noticed? TIA

Probably HB names their glass textures differently and you need to blacklist that, weird that it's giving a missing texture though.

1 mod folder and 1 temp folder with tacan.zip
what should I do with the tacan.zip folder

yeet it out

If there's any folders remaining in Temp(orary) that means it errored out on that zip file.

Can this be applied selectively, e.g. to certain modules only, by selecting specific folders in the popup, or can it only be run on the entire DCS root folder?

Okay, it seems to work, but is it normal to skip a lot of the liveries? For example on the Hornet it only adjusts and exports three liveries. Some F-14B liveries get skipped as well (VF-102, among others). The texture sizes are also still 4k when running the coremods files, but they're reduced to 2k when running my saved games liveries. Shouldn't the coremods liveries be reduced to 2k as well?

You're not running Powershell 7.x

It's called out in the error message.

Oh, I thought I did have it installed because when I went to install it, this is what came up

Doing a repair didn't fix it.

[edit] I checked to see what version I have and yes, it indeed version 5, not 7, and yet the installer thinks I have 7 already:
