The super Carrier landing lights are way too dim

Wecan't see them

I know you endeavor to try and make the game as realistic as possible and probably for real pilot out at sea they can't see them either

But almost none of us are real carrier pilots

We need brighter lighting so we can see the flight deck

So I don't know maybe you could just put like a dimmer switch on the control panel we can make the lights as bright as we want

Speaking of that at the Airboss station

I have noticed that when you click off on Airboss

We can't do anything else like pilot the aircraft

So I would like you to just make a click for the air boss but it doesn't stop us from doing other things

Because they're a bus station really isn't that big of a deal

Can't do anything except for control heading and turn on lights

So maybe just the passing thing that you can just click into the airboss turn on the lights and turn the ship and then go back to piloting the aircraft

Being there boss doesn't need to be a whole formal thing cuz there's nothing to do there

Just a couple thought to make the game better

Agreed, the lights are basically invisible, making getting lined up in the last mile near impossible on an overcast night.

Somebody notified me up a fix for this

If you go into the downloads of the user files

Change your category to search to  "other"

Artus light fix will fix this problem

Unfortunately you will need to change it in the game files itself

I don't know if you're crazy about that

but I did and it worked out okay

You will be able to do night traps

And foul weather

which is my personal favorite

Case III is not visual approach so you better focus on your avionics.

PS. Of course the lighting should be fixed.

I don't really use the game for flying that much

Seems very tedious I don't care for it that much

I use it more for ship warfare and operations because that's what I did in the Navy

It seems the IFLOLS is a bit busted as well, at least on the Washington. The ball itself is visible from a mile out, but the datum line doesn't appear until you're at the ramp.

Entirely agree.  I have a night carrier landing mission I made years ago when fog worked properly, it was great: just before the ball call the carrier lights would appear out of the fog beautifully, it all worked wonderfully.

Fast forward to today.  Supposedly we have fog again, so I load up the mission... to find that the lights on the carrier can hardly be seen even on a clear night.  Is this a recent change?  I don't remember it ever being this bad.

Too often DCS is just depressing, improve one thing, and something else FAQs up...

The FLOLS is turned off in the model in both the Carrier and Supercarrier models after the latest update. The overlay works just fine. To reproduce just load a mission for carrier launch, hit F2 and position the camera to where the FLOLS is visible. In the Russian Carrier it turns on as expected. Here are a few screenshots:

This is what I can see at 0.8 (I'm asked to call the ball at this point) and 0.3.  See also link.  I am running at 4k on a 43 inch monitor.

Thank you.  So hopefully just a simple recently introduced bug that can be fixed quickly?  I hadn't flown these carrier night missions for some time and was just trying out the new update features.

You'd hope it'd be a quick fix, but with ED it could months/years

I just checked and I'm not seeing the "backwards" lights either, i.e. I can definitely see the iflols datum green lights from the stern.  However, I don't see the ball yellow light (from either side), and unless I'm virtually over the carrier all the lights are way too dim or just not visible as I stated earlier.  Surely all the lights should be clearly visible when asked to call the ball?  They're not.  Will try to provide a track later when I have more time.  I'm using the Stennis.

Thanks for your time and patience.

Now, that is a FAC 😄

I guess all internal test pilots stayed in the ready room instead of getting up to the roof and taking a spin.

Confirming that this has been my experience since yesterday's patch as well. I've added a few trackfiles for reference (links to OneDrive b/c files too large for upload).

Also note, the ship is launching flares when client A/C are on final about to cross the fantail. Everyone in our squadron thought we were trolling them. 😁 "Nope, not us guys!"
