spidierox Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Since last patch update I have been seeing ugly trailing artifacts from behind aircraft and other moving objects. These present them as follows (see screenshots). Sometimes they disappear then come back and I notice them especially when flying over object that I have placed in ME. So I have a training range and as soon as I bomb, fire and there are explosions with smoke then I got these trailing black artifacts which in previous version I did not. (Using DLLS - VR - Volumetric lights ON - Spotting DOTS AUTO) This occured only with the latest patch 2.9.11.4686 and did not occur before.
spidierox Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 I just reverted back to nvidia 566.14 driver (coming from 566.36) and I also switch OFF the fog layer (which appearantly I still ON with 3 layers) : no more black artificats Ok, stupid of me for changing 2 things but my time is limited and I needed to get training and mission done so now it works. Conclusion: Either it is the new Nvidia driver (566.36) Or it is the fog layer (so I started with fog and 20 min later I increased the view distance, then 15 min later I put the visibility on unlimited - trying to simulate the fog in the morning has disipated, by setting the view distance to unlimited however found that there is still some fog) Or it is both.... Not sure if someone else has same issue or not.
D3W.buka Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 We have the same bugs on our servers. multiple colleagues report these bugs in syria and caucasus. no difference to Nvidia or ATi same in 2d as in VR the bug is seen with the tgp attached a picture, even after this last update.
Fear-Factor Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 (edited) Ive wrote already in ED discord but here it is also interesting. Maybe its an clue. I saw today something that may be a clue... a mate dropped from a Mi8 few bombs FAB-250-M62 and then we moved over to another place. When i came back to the place near our farp so this bug appeared suddenly. And it was near the bomb drop place. This bug is exactly on the place where the bombs were dropped. Then i rewatched my track file and this bug was not visible. So in my opinion the replay tracks are useless. Its something temporal during a session. After DCS restart the bug is not present on same place even when the mp server session is still active. After a server rejoin everything is fine until it can happen in another place.... DOG Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 (edited) omfg tyvm I was afraid I was alone with this problem in the second image notice the very small stripe that starts to extend before all the big brown ones appear it seems to only be visible at some angles and altitudes. I am AMD btw Edited December 30, 2024 by DOG added extra info about the second image
MoleUK Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 21 hours ago, SparrowLT said: Im seeing weird stuff this last days... im also on 566.36.. might trying rolling back That one is a seperate problem, it's something only ED can fix. More commonly seen in MP atm, they are trying to figure it out. If you get it in a short track do send it to them.
Nimbur Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 all players have this problem at the moment, many are complaining...null 1

SparrowLT Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 Nope.. rolled back to 566.14 and still have the massive glitches... maybe even more
scommander2 Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Hi, I am not sure that the cloud rendering is the known issue or not. Thanks. YoYo Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Looks like an artifact from overheating the graphics ;),everything is fine for me, I don't see anything like that, but I use MSAA. SparrowLT Posted January 1 Posted January 1 I doubt this is overheating.. first cause my 4070 super is not overheating (i can hear the fans clearly when they kick and i know how it sounds at full speed cause its what it does first when it boots and in game is not using the fans that much) ..mainly cause the CPU is bottlenecking it quite a lot (8600K i5) ..and mostly cause the glitches go away and come back depending on my head view angle..if i move my head (trackir) a bit it dissapears then if move it another angle it comes back.. so they are not allways there and are dependand on viewing angle...
YoYo Posted January 1 Posted January 1 (edited) Maybe record the track if you notice it, check that it will be present in the reply again and put the track here. It's always worth removing metashader2 and fxo after installing new patches to check if it's a problem with old shaders + to do clean up too. MoleUK Posted January 1 Posted January 1 (edited) It's not due to overheat issues, many users have reported this over on the ED discord. Seems to be limited to MP, and often doesn't show in track replays. https://discord.com/channels/542985647502393346/1301330515822903326/1323881862078267466 Also a thread on it here. But this is all seperate from OP's issue. Edited January 1 by MoleUK 2

DaveTC Posted January 2 Posted January 2 I have never seen this issue previously, but since the latest update I am getting the weird textures regularly when flying on MP servers. Here in attachments is the DCS log file of the latest session on the 4ya Syria mission when I encountered this issue. I do have the track file but it is too large to upload here. I will therefore provide an URL link to this track file (see link below). URL link to DCS Track file I have also recorded a video of this session (see link below). Fast foward to timecode 44:33 to see the start of the display glitch. At timecode 47:50 you can see I descend through the layer of the texture glitch. Also take note of how the AGL altitude on the ihadss jump when descending through this layer. DCS Textures 2025 01 02 video Hope this is of some use. Flappie Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Thank you for the track. I replayed it at speed x1 but could not see what you saw. Like @Fear-Factor said, it seems tracks won't help us here. I also looked at your log and determined the starting time of the visual glitch in your video (around 14:49:23), but nothing special happened in the log at this time. ---
Fear-Factor Posted January 2 Posted January 2 This is really weird. In our last session (5-6 hours) with several reconnects to mp server (due to save the trackfiles) ive hadnt any issues. We call it meanwhile "saturn ring bug". Other players experienced it. This is spontanous and seems like not really replicable. After restarting DCS and joining same running mp session seems to "clear" the bug. If someone witness this bug in SP, please tell me (it would ease the troubleshooting so much!). 1 ---
