Pilotasso Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 (edited) This is as bad as believing that CO2 emissions are causing global warming catastrophe. Its more complex than that, people tend to over-simplify things, but the mindset that its not doing nothing just because volcanos and other natural disasters cause more damage in the shorter term, is even worse. Oh, and for those of you that think CO2 emissions are causing global warming, heres a piece of information straight from the periodical table of elements: the half life of CO2 is 8.2 minutes. With all due respect man...but... LOL :D Edited June 15, 2010 by Pilotasso 1 .

hitman Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Half-life of CO2? Err... That's the most hilarious thing I've ever heard. :D Re-do physics and chemistry. Right away. ;) How is it funny? when a molecule is stripped of its electrons it becomes a different substance, and when it bonds with another substance it becomes a different compound. decaying matter is matter transforming into a lesser compound with a smaller foot print. uranium decays into lead. how does physics dictate a molecules half life? it all decays at the same rate it all only matters how many electrons that molecule has. the less it has the faster it decays. asparagin Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 when a molecule is stripped of its electrons it becomes a different substance, and when it bonds with another substance it becomes a different compound. I suggest you take it easy, and start with some ground school level chemistry for better understanding of what those words that you put in a row mean. and when i say only electrons i mean protons and neutrons as well. This I just wanted to quote. Spoiler AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, MSI MEG X570 UNIFY (AM4, AMD X570, ATX), Noctua NH-DH14, EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti XC3 ULTRA, Seasonic Focus PX (850W), Kingston HyperX 240GB, Samsung 970 EVO Plus (1000GB, M.2 2280), 32GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4-3600 DIMM CL16, Cooler Master 932 HAF, Samsung Odyssey G5; 34", Win 10 X64 Pro, Track IR, TM Warthog, TM MFDs, Saitek Pro Flight Rudders
Pilotasso Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 (edited) Hitaman, your confusing isotope elements with molecules of normal atoms, and radioactive half life with chemical decomposition. The 2 are completely different phenomanae! :)Its like confusing cats with cavages. And BTW, molecular decomposition is achieved through the means of energetic activation. The molecule should stay stable otherwise for billions of years. :) Edited June 15, 2010 by Pilotasso .
GGTharos Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Actually having a heavier nucleus usually means a shorter half-life ... usually... ;) The lifecycle of CO2 within the environment - not the nuclear half-life not chemical properties of it, is estimated at around 38 years. If the nuclear half-life was 8min, you'd be glowing in the dark. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

hitman Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Ill admit im Not into chemistry, but i do understand a few things. for instance: you Dont see air pollution in the country, just in the cities. prevailing winds Dont carry smog too far. CO2 lives so long in normal environments providing nothing consumes it. what im getting at is that you only see greenhouse gases over populated areas and its always localized. its warm in the cities nowadays? its always warm in death valley, they Dont blame it on greenhouse gases. if CO2 is as persistent as you people believe, this planet would have been a big stinking ball of Shit for over a century, Not for the last 10-15 years. i Dont buy it. zakobi Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 (edited) Anyone up for making little video where we (as a community 8)) disprove it? ;) got myself an idea on how to disprove the "on-off" thing. asparagin Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 radioactive half life with chemical decomposition radioactive half life and chemical decomposition or generally speaking a chemical reaction are of course different meals, but you can attribute a half life to a chemical reaction. Half life is just the rate at witch something happens. GGTharos Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 No, I want to know what it is we're disproving - chemtrails, particular properties thereof, the half-life of CO2 ... which one? Pilotasso Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 (edited) radioactive half life and chemical decomposition or generally speaking a chemical reaction are of course different meals, but you can attribute a half life to a chemical reaction. Half life is just the rate at witch something happens. Nope...quantum mechanics say otherwise. The notion that half life can be analogous to the chemical phenomenae is way wrong. A stable molecule will stay the same untill something from the exterior, massive amounts of energy decomposes back to its elements or a catalyst triggers reagents to form other molecule(s). So you know, Co2 exist on stars, so they can stay stable in hugely energetic neviroments, and so it does in space and planets alike. Its doesnt break apart spontanously by itself. This is a ludricous missconception. Edited June 15, 2010 by Pilotasso .

Its doesnt break apart spontanously by itself. This is a ludricous missconception. This is wrong. CO2, or any other molecule for that matter, will be destroyed and ionized in almost any stellar atmosphere. Only in very cool stars will you find molecules, TiO for example. Generally the temperatures are too high (1000's of K) for molecules to exist. There are only 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
