So I was initially disappointed that the A modeled in game was not the 80s version, but I got over that quickly. What is important to me is how well it flies and lands on a Carrier. On that point, Heatblur seem to have the A down pat with all the weaknesses/quirks of the engine. The late 90s version we have now also fits in better with the game time frame with its AG capabilities and upgraded electronics. I have grown very fond of it.

It will be nice to have a 80s version, but no rush for me, it will get here when it gets here.

I honestly don't understand how people can complain when you get not one, not two, not three, but FOUR modules, AND a carrier, for the price of ONE module, and it's the best module in DCS at that. So what the last 2 variants took longer than expected. Be happy you get them, for free.

Can't wait for the B(u) and will happily pay for it to support HB.

Is there someone who doesn't respect developer for this kind thing? No need to fight imaginary giants, dear noble Dons Quijotes.

There is no sedition in asking about something that excites you, such as the F-14A or the mythical Jester 2.0 on Tomcat.

Besides, why M61 Vulcan on HB's modules have a tight group unlike ED's one? 🙂

Certainly doesn't give anyone the right to make obnoxious demands and talk down to anyone on the development team.

I agree with this but please show me where I was demanding anything or talk down on the devs? I'm not even that much interested in the topic, I don't ask for any timeframes and I really appreciate the HB's job done on the Tomcat so far, but am not very happy either. Your post sounded like they are some superheroes working for free to please the customers in their free time so I replied and got excrements poured on me in return. I always thought highly of you so I'll assume you twisted my words and totally miss my point on purpose.

We have very different opinions on F-14 development obviously. There's nothing wrong with "I don't care about their business" take - that's just one healthy relationship. I do customer stuff - I pay, play, report, help others - while they do their dev's stuff. Do they get paid for it or not is not of my interest. They are not my friends. When they advertise something for the product and then add to it - cool, I'm fine with that, I appreciate, thanks, but what they offered originally is completely irrelevant from this point, ex. I wait for the 3rd campaign (F-14A in PG) because they announced they'll do one, even if they advertised and delivered 2 before, and I will wait for the early A the same way.

You advise me to support them with another buy like it somehow would finanse the work on finishing the Tomcat? Then I would come out as another number for the bought Phantoms and will be assumed as someone who likes F-4, so they will prioritise F-4 work even more. And for what? To find out that when I happen to find something wrong with F-4 I will have yet again more things to wait for from HB devs? And if I happen to say a word about waiting for a fix I'll once again will hear that they fix it for free and I better buy EF to finanse that work? 🙂 Get a grip yourself. I'm not going into that circle.

And I don't see how the short patch logs make for any winning when the current bugs list only grows. So, I'm sorry that I don't think of them as superheroes. They may have the right to make money and I have the right to express what I think of it, without offending anyone in the process.

My only disappointment is in teasing us with something that we may never even get.

The Sparrowhawk Tomcat? I'm betting it's planned but not yet announced.

Exactly. The announcement will come after the Early A is released, and that's soon according to HB themselves.

Didn't the B(U) upgrdade come with DFCS as well? I assume that would require some FM tweaking that would make this a bit more "in the future."

It was a separate upgrade that ALL Tomcats got, but by the time the B(u) upgrade came around, that had already happened, so yes. The B(u) has DFCS.

Please don't take this as a challenge: I am genuinely interested to see a list of your unresolved issues.  I'd like to see if it correlates with my own.

Due to personal attacks, both on me and other members of the community who try to report bugs or offer criticism (constructive or otherwise), I no longer feel safe to do so on these forums and will no longer actively pursue such activities aside from supporting already reported issues in the form of bumps, shares and reactions. So please forgive me if I don't share any here anymore.

I will DM you though, if you are still interested.

Exactly, it's bizarre how some people on these forums see any semblance of critique or questioning of their beloved favorite developer (HB) seems as a personal attack on them and they must profess their appreciation and love for any and all actions of their developer in response.

More Heatblur F-14 is always great to see. The F-14B(U) is a surprise to hear about, but something I look very much forward to - Just as I wait and long for the F-14 A early and IRAIF version to make an appearance.  Am I concerned they are announcing a new product while we still wait for products that have been promised? No, I'm not particularly concerned. Heatblur keeping their business afloat is in our best interest as Tomcat enthusiasts and to be honest as they develop more and hone their skills they can translate the new to other things in progress (like the early F-14A) which will hopefully result in a better product.  Our current Tomcat's are a joy to fly off of the carrier.

Surprised nobody is talking about the new F-14A pictures Heatblur put out because they relate here quite closely.  So we saw the mock up of the F-14 B/U in the 2025 and beyond video.  Great, sounds good.  I would still rather have the promised F-14A early first(luckily that's clearly still what's happening), because they've had that on the roadmap for years now and the B/U was never confirmed except for allusions that it might be a separate paid addition if they ever got the info to do it properly, not part of the main F-14 package like the early A.

Now we have more news on the early A including screenshots of the cockpit panels and TCS pod options.  The older style gun vents have not replaced the NACA ducts yet, but I hope they get added along with earlier missile options like the AIM-9H and AIM-7E4.

What are the blue finless training Sparrow looking things that were also pictured? I've never seen those before.

They're just counterweights for TARPS pod. On cruise or during workups fleet squadrons would just use the Phoenix pylons, and it was eventually just how the remaining squadrons did it in the 90s. But during the 80s and early 90s you'd definitely see shore-based squadrons with the Sparrow slugs, I don't have copies that are web-hosted but I've got shots from VF-202, VF-124, etc. showing them. I don't believe they were even a wired-in CATM, but rather just a Sparrow body full of concrete from what some former maintainers said. VF-202 even stenciled 'Superheats' on theirs.

F-14B Upgrade has been top of my list since the Instant Action had it ages ago.  Always wanted the Sparrowhawk. Would love a US Navy 95GR more than Iranian TBH.

Rejoice!

I'm really curious as to what new liveries we will get (still hoping for early, white flapped, VF-84).

Hopefully soon (this patch or the next), Reflected needs to be able to start on Anytime, Baby! 🙂 With Red Flag coming out, he'll need something to work on. 🙂

Which ever one it ships in will be at least one patch later than it will be listed as shipping.

White bellies, white bellies as far as the eye can see.

Ah, but notice I said white flaps...because by 1980 VF-84 still had white bellies, but the tops of the flaps and stabs were gray instead of white.
