@TPrince each update has potential for AV to block one of the new DLL files. when the DLL is newly compiled, there is a chance the AV will think the file is illicit. thus quarantining or deleting the DLL.

Same problem, even though I've got an exception for the DCS folder set in Bitdefender.

Haven't had an install issue for such a long time.  Disappointing.

Addition: no notifications from my antivirus (Bitdefender)

Either the exception is not properly specified, or your Bitdefender subscription has lapsed, in which case Microsoft's Defender takes over (and would need an exception in that case)

I just did the update and my anti virus is saying heatblurjester.dll "WIN64:MalwareX-gen[trj]  E:\DCS World Open Beta\ m0ds\ aircraft\ f4e\ bin\ heatblurjester.dll

And when DCS loaded the F4E was not authorised (or something like that)

like all the other responders above have said, add exceptions to your AV to exclude the pertinent folders. the following image is for MS Defender. The folders to exclude are clearly noted.

once this is done, run a DCS repair.

During my update process this file got flagged:

There is either a new system required that not likes to trigger AVs that much, or a new person needs to be hired just to work on the av whitelist process 😄

ED already reports to the AV makers, but you have to wait until your AV is updated, perhaps you could complain to your AV maker, after all is their software the faulty one.

Yesterday my heatblurcommon.dll still got flagged by windows defender, but with the ed update today this issue is gone. I can fully install the f14 module without any false av detections. 👍

I have not had any AV issues since long ago, after adding the dcs folder to the AV exclusion list.

It is a trojan linked to the F14 files, and yes it came back; as an information security professional I advise everyone to block it unless your computer is dedicated to DCS and no important information on it!

how can you be so sure that it is indeed a trojan? I have a hard time believing that a company like Heatblur would be distributing trojans within their games.

Security Professional.

Using Norton.

🤔

It's just a false positive, like every other time this has already happened. Wait two weeks until your particular AV whitelists the file if you don't want to exclude DCS folders.

i put this in another post.

this is a false positive. Antivirus programs employ heuristic analysis, which means they look for patterns. Antivirus programs can be overly cautious and flag DLLs as malicious, even when they are not harmful, potentially causing problems with software installations or updates. If you suspect a DLL file is a false positive, you can verify its legitimacy by checking the source of the file, by contacting the software developer for clarification.

as a security professional, you should know better. long time ago eset used to block ms exchange because of false positive.

this post has not seen the OP since the beginning and now it is just a see saw of back and forth. there are many people that have exclusions, me for one, and the world has not gotten any worse than it is because of it.
