MelonatorPL Posted April 18 Posted April 18 First of all LOVING the map. Probably going to be my favorite map for the sim. One thing I noticed however is that it seems too green. I feel like it is over saturated especially at low level. Anyone agree on this? Thanks. 13
Boosterdog Posted April 18 Posted April 18 I agree. In general it feels a little over saturated and that serves to furher starken the grass/mud areas around the airfields which is also not helped by the unavoidable "Jurassic grass" of DCS. 3 MSI Tomahawk X570 Mobo, Ryzen 5600X undervolted on Artic Freezer E34 Cooler, RTX3080 FE, 32GB (2x16GB Dual Ranked) GSkil 3600 CL16 Trident Neo RAM, 2X 4th Gen M2 SSDs, Corsair RM850x PSU, Lancool 215 Case. twistking Posted April 18 Posted April 18 (edited) judging only from videos, i also feel that the greens come out a bit too strong. related to that i found the normal maps a bit too strong where grass meets dirt. the strong normals make it look as if the mud areas were stenciled out from the grass areas. again... this is only from watching on youtube, which is not ideal for judging subtle texture details... but i think the map would look better with a slightly (!) desaturated and slightly (!) flatter (normals) look. ps: in general this seems to be a very nice looking map though! If the current textures are supposed to represent Summer season, then I don't want to see spring! So yes the green colours used are generally oversaturated, too bright and intense. To make this look like Germany in Summer, grass and trees need to have a darker shade of green and less yellow tint. To me this is the only real flaw of the new map and is so apparent I'm surprised that this was not raised more during development. It just doesn't look like Germany with this oversaturated green everywhere. Tone that down and it will look amazing. On 4/18/2025 at 8:19 AM, Boosterdog said: I agree. If the green gets darkened and desaturated and the brown mud textures get desaturated as well, then it will look just fine. The situation we have now all around airfields with this stark contrast between bright green and mud coloured parts just doesn't look like German soil. It does not look like dry grass at all and things look rather synthetic right now. But if the greens get toned down and the mud gets desaturated, it will help making the map look like Germany. It doesn't need much really, hope Ugra will fix it! 2
Art-J Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Somewhat psychodelic greens have been a "trademark" of maps by Ugra since the first release of Normandy '44, so I guess this is their artistic preference and it's here to stay. Most players just got used to them I think. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Duck21 Posted April 20 Posted April 20 It's not just the grass. During development people made several comments about the dirt/mud patches placed all over their airfields, pointing out that this is not correct for Germany. Ugra hasn't even replied to those. So it's more a case of ignoring customer feedback in general. I mean changing things doesn't bring them any money, and since there's no competition, I guess they can just leave things like they are now. It's a shame, but what can we do, it's not like we can buy a Central Europe map from someone else. 3
maks Posted April 21 Posted April 21 Please try reshade! On my pc , now really realistic looking , gone are the cartoon colours! 1 1
ghashpl Posted April 24 Posted April 24 I agree - for me the trees and the grass is way to green 1 1 https://msielski.com

Ghostrida9 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago (edited) make a backup, and put this file into your bazar/effects/LUT folder, inside the game menu: color profile, choose the color called with the Orange 2 name.. should be much less comical green looking.. try it, just backup the ..tealorange2.png before overwritin'... Hiob Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Reshade to the rescue! I completely agree with most of the above, but personally I find DCS in general more on the lollipop side of the spectrum. But color perception is difficult to agree on and I‘m not the creator. So I don’t expect them to cater to my preferences. Feedback is given, and for the time being I adjust the colours via Reshade. 1 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"
Raven (Elysian Angel) Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I've never seen ReShade look good (looking at static screenshots taken on a monitor is vastly different from actually flying in VR), but perhaps that's just me. The obvious problem with using the in-game colour profiles (be it Teal-Orange2 or any other) is that it affects everything, not just ground textures. Also, because of how DCS lighting works, trees and grass will look vastly different in the distance compared to close-by. Yes, I tried the above Teal-Orange2 and it does make the grass look a lot better, but it mutes all other colours, and there's a lack of consistency. The only real solution is for either Ugra to fix this, or for someone (Barthek or CGTC for example) to make a texture pack. The only real solution is for either Ugra to fix this, or for someone (Barthek or CGTC for example) to make a texture pack. That depends strongly on what exactly you do with it. If you keep it light and only (e.g.) use basic color correction it is barely noticable. If you use more intrusive options like fake HDR or somthing like this, the main problem is that people tend to overdo it. The charming thing is that you can turn it on and off instantly and see changes in realtime. As I said, I mainly use it to compensate the atmospheric haze (sharpening+contrast) and de-saturate the whole game slightly. I'm not sure, but I would bet that there is a plug in to adjust singular base colors (green!) one by one. But I haven't tried such wizardry yet.
