It’s a great mod but it also breaks IC and it’s for a module that’s not supported anymore

Wow I have no idea how I can Thankyou for doing this.      My Dad was based at Gutesloh 79 to 82 with 230 Sqn as a loadmaster on Pumas.      I have some memories of my time there ( I was only 7 at the time ).   I know there was a dry ski slope, as I took one hell of a tumble on it. 😂😂.   Put me off skiing for life.     
 

The military married quarters were a series of tower blocks in Harsewinkle just up the road from the base. 
 

While I will be using Gutesloh as my main base, I am aware that it’s currently very far from realistic.     I cannot wait to see where this project goes and I’ll certainly be downloading it if possible.

Kudos to your work.

That whole thread reminds me alot that DCS needs an option for scenery designers (professional and mods) to add and even replace map areas with better objects and designs. Some parts maybe can already be done via ME but that doesn't work with everything and it just works with a certain mission. 

In my opinion ED misses a big opportunity for add-ons like that that can make DCS maps so much better as I think no map designer as professional as they already are can make everything perfect plus maintain area progressions over time.

Happy about the GR7 version, but have to say that the FRS1/2 version ..... hmmm..... looks like a make-believe. Nice morph of a GR7 and a FRS, but would use it in no case.

Thanks to everybody so far, pretty bussy with texturing and creating textures mostly so far, experimenting and all that.. no joke gimme that terrain editing tool and i fix most of the wrong ground detail, roads, missing lakes around Gütersloh in no time... its not that much.

.. and uhm.. sorry Ugramedia...what is that building you placed at the spot where the Storage shelter should be....🤣🤣🤦‍♂️

Holy cow!!! This has made my day, I know Ugra have a lot on their plate so I am extremely grateful for what we have, I fly no other map!! This just takes it to another level, wow wow wow!!

Thanks a lot !!

I had to create my own PBR textures and tryed different colors schemes that would work, I still need a few more but so far, things are going well. For the first time i also played around and created some Roughmets.

Sure there's a lot when it comes to the landscape detail itself which is missing, even the small lake which is located north west of the base is missing and yes the Ems river is wrong.. don't know UGRA should work with Google or Bing maps so at the least the landscape and roads would be accurate. The "Killer High Grass" is a problem no matter what you try..

Ugra media has yet not created even one of the major buildings for this Airbase.. hope they skip Phase 2 and 3 until everything looks much more realistic, also the road map on this airbase is kinda off.. again, google maps is your friend to some degree. Same goes for all the other bases so far...

a lot is going on lately but i keep creating my own PBR textures when i get to it, it takes time but the good thing is that many of those textures can be used for many buildings. Just a few more normal maps and roughmets are missing. I also created a few more models allready.. anyway... a small update.. more soon

Phantastic new shots, wow, what an improvement, Ghostrida! Your details are awesome.

Regarding the hangars, I have to add that the current front doors are wrong. The big aircraft doors had been replaced by smaller section doors for vehicle usage after the last Harrier GR7 left the air base in 1993. 1993 to 2016 the British Army took over the airfield and exchanged the hangar doors.

So to represent the air base buildings correctly, you should use the big hangar doors because of the aircraft maintenance options.

^ Yeah, the loggies made the hangars more 'truck friendly' when it became PRB, they also built a big fence across the waterfront, closed the swimming pool and got rid of the dry ski slope that Cowboy10UK mentioned. I tried to find Sassenberg lakes, the Claas tractor factory and the Emstalstadion go-kart track at Harsewinkle, all sadly missing - as is the gym (no loss there!).

Thanks to all of you, Thx @Manschy, i allready have the "old" shelter door as texture so it's easy to change it, a good idea is to have maybe Hangar 6 and & 7 with the old doors and the rest with the new ones, so it's a bit of the base in it's transition.

Regarding inaccuracy.. there's a waste water plant at the base located north west, close to the shelters.. i can understand that Ugra has not created the buildings or something.. ok, but not even creating the concrete ground tiles..?! just trees and thats it !!!!, They should really work with Satellite images, would be much much better. 

I tryed what i could to create this spot, still small parts of the KILLER HIGH GRASS is coming through... but, anyway you get it..

@Ghostrida9 how do you do it? I mean import your objects into a DCS map, and remove the original ones?

I also did some modeling, they were an aiport buildings for SA map (forgot airport name), but I wasn't able to do it on my own to import to the map my self.

1.  Research, research..research

2.  Create models and textures / Roughmets/ Normal maps and render them as dds/EDM files

3. create lua files

4. Headache...because you figure that the Airbase/Airport layout is inaccurate...

5. Thinking until you get headache again...

6. Headache..the Killer High grass is drivin you nuts...

7.  A lot of trial and error..

 

Back to work. I'll be away for a week, but some more updates for now..

Again, UGRA has not yet created most of the critical military infrastructure like those huge "grass" bunkers...there're at least 3 of them at Gütersloh, the place is completely empty on their map.. no layout.. nothing !! 

Creating the ground layout above the "Killer Grass" is really annoying work to say the least...

And if I'm not mistaken, these bunkers are for fuel storage - so an object that's relevant not just for eye-candy and accuracy, but one that actually has an impact on gameplay (as destroying these can result in fuel being unavailable at this airbase).

Unfortunately, like most DCS maps, these warehouses are usually in random places (especially ammunition). It isn't relevant to Gütersloh, but Wiesbaden had quite a few fuel bunkers which seem to be absent in DCS, with fictional tanks being made instead (where IRL there seems to be some small buildings and a car park).
