Smashy Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Since the 2.9.16.10523 update, the HMD symbology is noticeably blurrier than the previous version. Could this be related to the following change? Fixed: HMD cross disappears with a large FOV - fixed the visibility with large FOV. Anyone else seeing this? It looks like a couple people have mentioned it on ED's Discord: https://discord.com/channels/542985647502393346/1375213873304703096/1375213873304703096 https://discord.com/channels/542985647502393346/1375154676953124945/1375154676953124945 1
Tholozor Posted May 23 Posted May 23 (edited) Seems to be a correction of this specific issue: Personally I prefer it the way it is now, as I can turn the HMD brightness knob down to reduce the glow, whereas previously it wasn't bright enough. Previously it was very sharp, now it is chunky. Moreover, in VR it is very bloomy due to extra brightness. Top pic is taken from pancake, bottom pic is VR, but the VR screenshot was taken from the LCD too, so bloomyness only visible if you zoom in. Edited May 23 by Razor18

Smashy Posted May 23 Author Posted May 23 Appreciate the input @Mapi. Unfortunately, I'm on a 6800 XT GPU so I don't think this tweak is applicable to me.
Muchocracker Posted May 23 Posted May 23 yeah this is still an issue even if you use the MFD bypass line. I saw it last night. 1
Christopher Scott Posted May 26 Posted May 26 Agreed, very blurry HMD on F18 since last update. I think the HUD is slightly less sharp as well Chris
Czar66 Posted May 26 Posted May 26 (edited) It is perfect for 1080p now. I hope ED makes options around HMDs symbology instead hopping around settings that are always incompatible with someone's system/preferences. The last patch fix was to fix this issue bellow (shot taken 19th of May 2025, before patch): Worked as intended and this issue ^^^^ for the whole HMD display is no more on 1080p. Please ED, testers, CMs, forward for the team to make options of symbology thickness or something related to the resolution of these displays as people are having issues instead of rolling back an returning to the degraded status for 1080p. The HMD was not like this prior to 2025. 50 minutes ago, Christopher Scott said: I think the HUD is slightly less sharp as well Placebo perhaps. The HUD it is just as sharp as before. Vakarian Posted May 28 Posted May 28 These issues only happen on resolutions that aren't 16:9 aspect ratio, it has been reported a while back... Maybe this gets it more traction

And no, it does not just happens to non-16:9 monitors, I have a 4k 32" 16:9 monitor, thats where I took the pancake pictures about the problem from.
falcon_120 Posted May 28 Posted May 28 I dont know, i happen to like my blurry HMD symbology more than the previous dim iteration, it was so hard to see during daytime, now i can totally see it.
rob10 Posted May 28 Posted May 28 I wouldn't say it's blurry, so much as the letters have almost become bolded which makes them harder to read/ugly and agree that this changed just as of last update (wasn't like this previously, so different issue to the Dec '23 one for users currently starting to experience it). This seemed to be a fix for a problem some other users were having and I assume at higher resolution it looks better, but it's now degraded things for a different group of users. Seems like this needs to have options depending on resolution used.
ThorBrasil Posted May 29 Posted May 29 I really wish these bold fonts and lines would be resolved as soon as possible. 1 |Motherboard|: Asus TUF Gaming X570-PLUS, |WaterCooler|: Corsair H115i Pro, |CPU|: AMD Ryzen 7 3800X, |RAM|: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB 3200MHz DDR4, |SSD|: Kingston A2000 500GB M.2 NVMe, |SSD|: Kingston 2.5´ 480GB UV400 SATA III, |SSHD|: Seagate Híbrido 2TB 7200RPM SATA III, |GPU|: MSI Gaming 980Ti, |Monitor|: LG UltraWide 34UM68, |Joystick 1|: Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog, |Joystick 2|: T.Flight Rudder Pedals, |Head Motion|: TrackIr 5.

Blueleader Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Yes, I confirm HMD symbology "chunky" and blurry since last upgrade which was not possible before with a 21/9 screen ! This is really very very unfortunate once again after an update...
Christopher Scott Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Definitely an issue since the last upgrade only. Not changed my monitor, resolution or aspect ratio and this never happened previously. Worse at higher resolutions, I would say Chris 2

Delta134 Posted May 30 Posted May 30 It is a sort of bloom effect to indicate it is set too bright I think. Try turning down the HMD brightness. That should make it less blurry.

It still needs a bit of improvement and then the cow will be off the ice! Trancers Posted May 31 Posted May 31 (edited) If you want to solve the problem temporarily, you can use this mod, it works It´s an older version of "ouky1991" HUD Mod, because the newer version don´t solve the problem... at least not for me!
