Slice313 Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago (edited) Module: Mi‑24P Hind Build: DCS latest as of Aug 2025 Resolution: 2D (1440p/2160p) Severity: Usability/UX issue Reproducibility: 100% The Mi‑24P doppler based moving map displays measurements for course, distance, ETE with a very large, fixed-size font. -On routes with multiple legs labels overlap and become unreadable. -The issue is most pronounced in the Large Map view of the Mi‑24P map. Changing the map scale does not affect label size. -Zooming does not improve legibility, as the font size remains the same. -Currently it is hard or near impossible to to use on anything but the simplest routes. A scaling/declutter option would make a huge difference. I attach an example image (Outpost Campaign) Pls fix this bug, the Hind deserves it. Edited 1 hour ago by Slice313 clarity, images

With such a planned route (especially at this map scale), even smaller fonts will blend together. You'd have to use a micro font, which you wouldn't be able to read without a magnifying glass. I've flown many missions on various maps and never had a problem reading the route. Edited 3 hours ago by Raffi75
Kang Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I'd say it's less of a bug and more of a design flaw. After all, you can only write stuff with a grease pen so small. 2

I've flown many missions on various maps and never had a problem reading the route. you’re kinda missing the point here. The Mi-24P’s doppler map is a mess because the font for course, distance, and ETE is way too big and doesn’t scale. It’s not about wanting tiny text I’d need a magnifying glass. The campaign route’s totally normal (in fact it's big long route), and the map’s failing at giving clear info, which is a big deal for navigation. Saying you’ve never had an issue doesn’t change the fact that this is a clear, repeatable problem. So I don't understand your answer dismissing the problem. 39 minutes ago, Kang said: I'd say it's less of a bug and more of a design flaw. The intention of the post is to request a revision of the design so that the font scales better for all types of routes. 1
Slice313 Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago (edited) An easy fix could be using tiny fonts and a button bind for a semi fullscreen view the map to quickly check information. It would be a compromise, but easier than proper scaling and decluttering techniques. But seeing that they didn't bother yet to fix the screen export map bug (for years now), I wouldn't expect too much effort on this. Edited 2 hours ago by Slice313 1

If you can't read the map, you can always use F10. War Thunder and World of Warplain have a map that takes up half the screen, you can always fly there. I'm not downplaying the issue; I've had experience with these maps and the mapmaker, and I know how it looked and worked in real life.

Suggesting I switch to the F10 map or, lol, play War Thunder or whatever is a total troll move. Your real life mapmaker experience is cool, but it doesn’t change anything. If you are not into adding anything of interest to the conversation I would recommend you to go read your maps. This is a bug (or design issue) report, not your trolling retreat area. Raffi75 Posted 34 minutes ago Posted 34 minutes ago I'm not trolling. I'm just amused by some of the issues you're reporting here. This is Russian equipment from the 1980s, and that's how it worked. It's like the behavior of a child who needs everything handed to them on a plate because if something requires a little more effort, it's definitely broken. Cheers. 1

Throwing insults instead of engaging with the problem just shows you’ve got nothing useful to say. This is the last reply you will get from me.
