Hello everyone,

Red Star Simulations is excited to share our progress on a range of liveries for the MiG-17F.

Below is a list of possible liveries currently planned (subject to change), and we’d love to hear your input.

Which paint schemes would you most like to see included? Are there particular historical operators, squadrons, or iconic designs that you feel are essential?

We’ve also included a preview of several work-in-progress liveries that are already in development. Your feedback will help us decide what to prioritize moving forward.

My choices (of the above choices) are: 

Chinese Aerobatics Team / Vietnam Camo 2072 / Vietnam BM 2047 / Czech MiG-17 "Red" / Indonesian Aerobatic Team Red / Egyptian Nile Valley Camo / United Arab Republic / US "Have Drill" Camo / Randy Ball 1611

Also, Can We gets North Korean MiG-17F/F-5 liveries? That would be awesome because they are still in service afaik.

+1  ... even if we don't have (yet) a Korea map, I'd like a Korean livery too.

 

My preference is for regular service liveries of countries that we can fit on available maps (so, no african countries for example, apart from Egypt), also I'm not a fan of aerobatic teams or anniversary liveries, from your list at the 1st post I would prioritize these:

I pretty much agree with what Eduardo wrote. Maybe minus the Indonesian livery.

Soviet and East German liveries are an absolute must for me (especially the East German fighter-bomber camo livery), plus liveries for those nations that we have the correct maps for (Syria, Sinai, Nevada). And since everybody is craving for a Vietnam scenario and many recreate this on the Marianas map, North Vietnam liveries are very welcome too I guess.

Polish and GDR bare metal are for sure. But the camo ones are technically fictional since by that time the 17/Lim5 was converted to a Fighter Bomber with a slightly different cockpit, no radar, and different gunsight. Also had permanent ub16-57 rocket pods mounted.

Does that mean we're not getting the 57mm rocket pods (MARS II from Polish production)? I was hoping they would be an option.

Only the pylons were permanent by the way, the pods themselves could be mounted and dismounted for each flight as required.

This is not entirely true what you write. In the 1980s, camouflage was already used on the LiM-5/MiG-17F in the Polish Air Force (generally, in those years there were few Lim-5s because they were replaced by newer versions) but those MiG-17Fs that were still in service were repainted. There is no fiction here. This photo is from 1984. Bare metal also existed, but it appeared rarely, eventually being replaced by later versions of the LiM, the pinnacle of which was the LiM-6bis. I also have no idea what radar you're talking about? The MiG-17F didn't have the A2A radar, only the PF version.
