NoPro Posted September 19 Posted September 19 I‘m not sure and I would guess that I’m the problem here but after a cold and dark start up, doesn’t matter if its a self made mission or the first training mission, I can’t get this thing to fly straight. NO FFB JOYSTICK IS USED. AFCS bit Test is successful and I trim everything back to neutral. Soon after liftoff the aircraft banks to the left, so I put in some right trim, even though it shouldn’t bank as there is no wind, no loadout, nothing. After minimal right trim input, the aircraft banks to the right and so it continues the whole flight, left, right, left, right. Pitch trim is fine and I do get a perfect level flight but aileron. When using a hot start mission or the second training mission, all works well and no issues as I don’t have to touch the aileron trim. Unfortunately the controls indicator is not working at the moment, so I can’t check the trim positions as I think the „trim neutral lamps“ do have a bigger range and are not exactly neutral when lit. Any ideas how I can get this thing to fly straight after a C&D start up? Anyone experienced the same? cheers 1
RogueRunner Posted September 19 Posted September 19 I do find the trim increments is a little coarse yes, difficult to get it perfect while flying at a constant speed and attitude. 2 With the price of ammunition these days do not expect a warning shot.

You can, I adjusted mine in the config file from 1.0/-1.0 to 0.4/-0.4. It‘s the same procedure as with the F4 Phantom. But still struggling to get it lined up perfectly except if you press the Trim reset button, but this also cancels your pitch trim 3

NoPro Posted September 20 Author Posted September 20 Don't know how much a track file would help without seeing the controls indicator but here you go ED @BIGNEWY, instant action takeoff mission on the caucasus map. I did tap my aileron trim so that it is out of 'neutral' and then back so that the 'neutral lamp' is illuminated and after liftoff I didn't touched my x-axis on the stick and the aircraft is banking to the left even though everything should be neutral. If you need something more, just let me know. cheers Aileron Trim.trk
markymarc8311 Posted September 21 Posted September 21 I had a similarish problem and "trimer - reset" fixed me up. Hope it works for you dude

Hope it works for you dude It does, yes and after start up it is no problem at all to use this button but if you‘re in flight and trimmed with pitch and/or rudder….you‘ll be messed up with all trims just because of the aileron trim is apparently not neutral even though the lamp is illuminated
addman Posted September 22 Posted September 22 I'm seeing the same issue here after C&D start-up. I run the AFCS test with no problems except that I have to trim aileron and elevator after it's done. But even though these axis are indicated as neutral, after take-off it banks a bit to the left. Have no idea why this is happening but I just use the trimmer reset button as suggested above. But I don't get why I'm having this issue as well.

draconus Posted September 22 Posted September 22 25 minutes ago, addman said: So you are saying that it IS in neutral position after AFCS test even though the trim neutral lamps aren't lit? He's saying that the lamp and sensor work for some range that's considered neutral. It is not a precise point that'll give you hands-free flight and it's also not the trimmer's job. Use AP instead. This comes up for every module and it's just misunderstanding of the trimmer function. That‘s I was looking for. Now I know that even if the neutral lights are lit, doesn’t mean the aircraft is in actual neutral trim and we do have a small trim range even with illuminated neutral lights. Thanks 1

Nor is the air itself perfectly still. (Well in DCS it can be, but that's unrealistic in itself) Both true. However, if you have flown any aircraft in real life, you know that you get much more feedback how the aircraft is behaving in the air whilst at the controls. Trying to manipulate switches or turning your head while in close formation makes it more difficult to stay in place when you also have to constantly trim, because the trim inputs required are less than one click. Just my two cents. 1

It just covers a range of few clicks. It would be pretty hard to set the lamp to neutral if it covered only exactly one click wouldn’t it? 2 Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com
