MAXsenna Posted October 22 Posted October 22 @BIGNEWY Are the devs still working on todays update until the last second or why are you so misterious about the update content?Mysterious? Nah, this is completely normal. And they won't post the changelog until they're absolutely sure the patch is posted. Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk 1

I just wondered why you did not just post the Changelog and let everyone speculate. But you awnsered it. Just did not know that they are in deed cheking everything till the last second. Is there a fixed time when the changelog comes or will you drop it just when its finished? Just for my interrest, cause I´m quite new and don´t have that much experience with your update process. 1

Plus it would be nice to have something that was mentioned when the update to the A-10C was announced released 5 years after the updated module was released. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/2020-10-02/ They already changed and don't plan to include things originally announced such as updating the TAD would be a shame if the pilot body ended up not happening as well. Ideally that would be the case yes. But as I’m sure you’re aware, DCS massively overexposes the view as soon as you enter the cockpit, and because of the lighting changes in version 2.7 the gamma required for a consistent experience now depends on a module by module basis, based on their age and the availability of a working visor. In FC3 and the A-10, anything over 1.6 blinds me. In the F-16/18 I can get away with 1.7 or 1.8. In the F-4 I use 2.1, and in F-15E, OH-58, Mirage 2000 and F1, and now in the MiG-29 as an ED-first I can use 2.2 - because visors correct the overexposure and makes colour representation consistent between external view and cockpit view. This is all in daylight conditions, mind you. DCS’s night lighting is pretty bad so at night and depending on the circumstances I go up to gamma 3.5 for a believable experience. 6 Spoiler Ryzen 7 9800X3D | 96GB G.Skill Ripjaws M5 Neo DDR5-6000 | Asus ProArt RTX 4080 Super | ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E GAMING | Samsung 990Pro 2TB + 990Pro 4TB NMVe | VR: Varjo Aero VPC MT-50CM2 grip on VPForce Rhino with Z-extension | VPC CM3 throttle | VPC CP2 + 3 | FSSB R3L | VPC Rotor TCS Plus base with SharKa-50 grip | Everything mounted on Monstertech MFC-1 | VPC R1-Falcon pedals with damper | Pro Flight Trainer Puma OpenXR | PD 1.0 | 100% render resolution | DCS graphics settings Win11 Pro 24H2 - VBS/HAGS/Game Mode ON

There isn't one gamma setting that works for all modules. I find some of the newer Modules have particular dark cockpits and some older are too bright. Maybe the problem is more pronounced on an oled, since there is no backlight to brighten up the blacks.... 1 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"
Czar Posted October 22 Posted October 22 (edited) @Raven (Elysian Angel) and @ThorBrasil are both right. 2.2 is the neutral gamma visual industry wise (refer to external sources), but that value in DCS is off balance with over exposure. There are much worse offenders out there, btw. DCS still looks good. All games have their look based on artistic vision, DCS just happens to be one of the few that references the industrial value being the default 2.2, which is correct. Use a lower gamma to counter over exposure and the lack of a tinted visor. ...even for calibrated monitors without any blown up whites. (we need those visors across all modern modules...) Viper ZA Posted October 22 Posted October 22 Not expecting anything to crazy this patch. Looking more at couple of fixes mostly.
Czar Posted October 22 Posted October 22 I hope to see something new from Heatblur about the F-14 special effects. Those overwing/tenis court vapors and afterburner effects had already shown their age. Especially how muted down the afterburners are in dim lighting in comparison to real life. vs 1
PLUTON Posted October 22 Posted October 22 Exactly, we absolutely need visors like the F15E or the M2000c because they provide nearly natural vision. Thanks in advance. 2
