I thought I read somewhere that Thrustmaster would send you replacement pots for a Cougar if they get worn out, but I can't remember where I read it. Does anyone know if this is actually the case and if so, how you can do it?

Thanks!

You can buy original pots of Cougar in two Webs, or Cougar World, or Thrustmaster web.

http://cougar.frugalsworld.com/sales.php#pot Pay is a bit special. You need contact for email.

http://ts.thrustmaster.com/eng/ you need contact for email.

I purchased pots two times in first option, is good option. I have friend purchased pots in second option, is good option.

TM will post them to you at about 5-6 euros (inc posting from Canada). takes 5 or so weeks depending on your location.

I replaced almost every pot and replaceable part in my Cougar for the princely sum 20euros.

Go through their support site as linked above.

You can find the same pots in $10 joysticks and pads. Worn out? They are 'worn out' as soon as they leave production line.

$4 for the Gimbals? No wonder its so crap... really, if you can afford NXT and Hall Sensors are the way to go... I did mine few years back and it was well worth it. Recently I made the DIY Hall Sensor for the throttle as well and it is also lot better now.

If you're going to buy the Uber, you might as well pre-order the Warthog instead.

Incidentally, it's not finding good pots that are the problem. It's finding good ones that fit the cougar. The CTS pots are tiny.

Ours is not to reason why, but rather to do and die.

There's plenty of space for any replacement pots in cougar.

All you have to do is get the part # from here and then call or email TM with your order. http://cougar.flyfoxy.com/warranty_parts.php

Yes, if you modify the mechanism. I was referring to a drop-in replacement

No kidding, that's exactly what I want to do :D And I wouldn't say the are worn out from the start, they are just the wrong component for the job ;)

I want to spend as little as possible getting my Cougar, in its current state, back into 'working' order without spending £££ on it. Then, when I am over the financial burden of purchasing a TMWH, I will get it modded with the u2NXT+ Cubby hall sensor mod :D

@ Coolts> Cheers mate, will email TM Support

I was mocking the pots selection :sly:

Your current state? If you can afford a big mac set with fries, coke and icecream, you can also afford potentiometers that will be far better than the original Cougar pots. Yes, Thrustmaster suck that much.

Yes, Thrustmaster suck that much.

Agreed. Let's hope they have it sorted for the WH. In the meantime I'll have to make do with crappy pots.

They don't use pots in the WH. The design looks pretty solid, but looks can be deceiving.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

There's still plenty of things to screw up though and TM team is probably yet another manufacturer with the 'Yes, we can!' credo :D

Lol, yes there's a good chance :D I'll reserve judgement until it arrives though.
