Development of the TK-X began in early 2000s and was first publicly revealed in 2008.

TK-X tank is armed with a 120-mm smoothbore gun, developed by Japan Steel Works which also license-produces the Rheinmetall 120-mm / L44 gun for the Type 90 MBT. It uses automatic loading system. A new armor-piercing ammunition has been developed for TK-X. The gun is compatible with all standard 120-mm NATO ammunition. The tank is designed with increased protection against RPG rounds, it has a sloped modular ceramic composite armor similar to the Leopard 2A5. Side profile is similar to the Leclerc. Damaged armor modules can be easily replaced in field conditions. Add-on armor can also be removed to reduce combat weight to 40 tonnes for ease of transportation. TK-X has NBC protection and automatic fire suppression systems. It's smoke grenade launchers are coupled to laser warning receivers. TK-X is using digital battlefield management system and navigation system for rapid coordination and increased situational awareness. Powered by an 1 200 hp diesel engine. The TK-X main battle tank is fitted with a state-of-the-art semi-active hydropneumatic suspension. The tank can "sit", "stand", "kneel" or to "lean" in any direction.

My mission is to fly, fight, and win. o-:|:-o What I do is sometimes get a tin of soup, heat it up, poach an egg in it, serve that with a pork pie sausage roll.

But it can drift.. all it needs now is a body kit.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

It looks super evil. But makes me wonder its uselfulness in islands.

Tanks are a very capable and useful part of a defensive ground position, seeing as how it is the JDF and part of that would be defending the islands from an amphibious invasion. Rommel thought they'd be useful in coastal defense. :dunno: Ceteris paribus, of course. :D

When will they *ever* learn?!?!

If they don't put some reflective armor on that thing, Godzilla is still going to fry it! :smartass:

But that one needed to be on ice. The Japanese one did it on dry pavement.
