Eddie Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 I'm just hoping that not only are the idle detents on the throttle but that they are a lot stiffer than on previous HOTAS setups, as to be hard to pull past by accident. Although I seriously doubt they'll be like detents on real throttle boxes, as that would probably be too expensive to produce, and cause issues for those using the Warthog with other sims. Of course that assumes that DCS:A-10C will model idle detent position on the throttle axis for each engine for doing engine starts/shutdowns properly rather than just having an idle detent keybind as in Falcon. 1
sobek Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Of course that assumes that DCS:A-10C will model idle detent position on the throttle axis for each engine for doing engine starts/shutdowns properly rather than just having an idle detent keybind as in Falcon. My thoughts exactly, the A-10 does have an idle detent to engage the engine start process or cutoff fuel. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
roob Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Thrustmaster's not on the exhibitors list on E3... Anyone knows if they're there? Or when any new info on their stick is due? My DCS stream [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Past broadcasts, Highlights Currently too much to do... But watch and (maybe) learn something :)
Bwaze Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 (edited) This page lists them as one of the companies on E3 with racing sim stuff: http://www.racesimcentral.com/news/lang/it/2010/06/inside-sim-racing-e3-2010/ But that's the only mention of Thrustmaster I could find, I guess they are just "guests" at some larger vendor. According to my search it's usual for the Thrustmaster to unveil new hardware at E3, and people were surprised when they showed their "GT cockpit" a month before. P.S.: Oh, and the thread on SimHQ where the James Hallows said "Go to the E3 gents!" apparently disappeared. So we really don' know absolutely nothing. It's all the work of "HOTAS Warthog attack group in final approach phase" I guess... Edited June 14, 2010 by Bwaze
531-Ghost Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Well, to avoid "misinformation" http://www.thrustmaster.com/product.aspx?ProductID=205&PlatformID=5 :joystick:
Bwaze Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Yeah, but I think it should say: "To avoid information...". That's a silly way to release a piece of hardware. Unless there are really problems and it has been delayed.
sobek Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Yeah, but I think it should say: "To avoid information...". That's a silly way to release a piece of hardware. Unless there are really problems and it has been delayed. Seems quite likely at this time, considering the lack of information and the animation on the main site disappearing altogether. Pilotasso Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Or simply "its comming but no promises on the date" at which time they will release the rest of the info on the site, but not before ebcause of the competition. Not everything has to be a conspiracy. :) .

71st_Mastiff Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Maybe right, so they probably want to aviod the same issues Saitek X-65F Pro Flight had and logitech Flight System G940, with dual control for engines. MMM something is up with the thrustmaster site as the flash screens are not working. Yeah, but I think it should say: "To avoid information...". That's a silly way to release a piece of hardware. Bwaze Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 SimHQ will shortly publish hands-on reviews of HOTAS Warthog and DCS A-10C from E3. And it looks Warthog will be a little late, September 2010. Unless that's a date of DCS release. :-)

Eddie Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 (edited) The throttles feature a clever lifting system for the detents, similar to the finger lifts found on real throttles. The idle detent is fixed and non-removable, while the afterburner detent can be eliminated with the simple removal of two thumbscrews, the reversal of an internal piece, and the replacement of the thumbscrews. The throttles cannot be moved through the detents unless the throttles are lifted (unless excessive force is applied), making them a true mechanical stop. I think I just creamed my pants!!!!!!!! Most of the lettering on the throttle base is backlit in green, and the lighting state should eventually be controllable in the programming software And again! Edited June 16, 2010 by Eddie
coolts Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 (edited) My god! That looks amazing! And you can use existing modded cougar bases so all those guys who have spent £££'s can carry their investment over! Full software program capability. Backlit throttle controls. All metal contruction. silent dertents, (afterbutner one easily removeable). detents require throttle lift to pass as in real life "The switches on the throttle base are solid and have a very satisfying click when they are moved. Most of the lettering on the throttle base is backlit in green, and the lighting state should eventually be controllable in the programming software." mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmMMMMMMMMMMM:P:P My boxes are well and trully ticked! DTWD Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Sounds impressive for what I have read so far. I am so happy they have added items that don't really exist on the A10 system but that can be removed to make it a "replica". Shows this thing has been thought about and they are not only making a good replica but keeping as many people as happy as possible that sim fly other aircraft, and that is all good! Maybe you guys can clear this up though: "The throttles cannot be moved through the detents unless the throttles are lifted (unless excessive force is applied), making them a true mechanical stop." Does that excessive force mean "you could break it, it's not supposed to go beyond the detent without a lift" or that it's designed to hop over it if you slam the throttles full open? Also this: "There is no electrical response of the throttle axes below the idle detent, and the detents are silent." Does that mean that beyond idle (which I assume isn't 0 throttle?) they throttle doesn't register an input? I may have more questions the more I read, but this thing is sounding awesome-cheese! Regards [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
