swepain Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 (edited) that will never happen. The code has changed to much for DCS and LO to be combatale. how do u know that ? have u been coding much lately ? Regarding A-10C Warthog, the intent is to release sometime in 2010. This is later than Eagle had initially intended, but development time needed to be extended to account for a new Flaming Cliffs product........ Edited October 18, 2009 by swepain It takes a fool to remain sane
joey45 Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 how do u know that ? have u been coding much lately ? It was said sometime ago that DCS and LOFC was not combatilble. EDIT: my money is on another Flyable for FC. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. True, I'm buying it whatever it is, as I suspect are most people here. But outside the forum among the wider gaming public, Payware would be derided if it was anything other than a new Flyable. Nate--IRL-- Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 As far as I can recall (I may be wrong) the original agreement with UBIsoft was for 1 add-on to Lock On only. That was Flaming Cliffs. I wonder if ED have bought the Lock On name from UBIsoft or entered into some sort of licensing arrangement for the name? Could open the possibility that the Lock On Franchise could continue further than this Product? Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading

Ubisoft hold the name L.O.M.A.C. not the game itself. Can ED patch and update LO/FC? ED can indeed Patch and update Lomac and FC as they wish. It is another story when selling a product using the name Lock On, to so so would probably require UBI's agreement. As would, for example, a third party selling new terrain for BS, would require ED's agreement. The original Lock On UBI/ED agreement allowed for 1 addon to Lock On should ED want to produce it IIRC. This was FC and was undertaken without involvement from UBI. Anyway this is just speculation on my part, until we know what the "Product" is. EtherealN Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 In response to jctrnacty, and as a person that vastly prefers DCS to LockOn, I'll say this: I definitely want ED to further develop the LO:FC line. I want them to pour more resources into it, and I want them to do so in the form of paid expansions. Why? Simple: DCS sets a realism standard that cannot be met by data availability on most moder aircraft. Remember that if it weren't for the USANG contract we probably would have seen DCS:A10A, not DCS:A10C. Developing LO:FC allows for some levels of "educated guesses" to be implemented in the product to ensure that we get an opportunity to play simulations of the most modern aircraft even if ED hasn't scored a military contract on that aircraft. I'd kill for a simulation of a modern MiG-29, but I don't think it likely that we'd be able to get that glass-cockpit goodness in the DCS line without making sacrifices on the fidelity of the simulation. LO:FC however would allow that. And similarly, if they were to do something like 6DOF clickable cockpits for the Su-25 in LO:FC I would be prepared to author pre-nups and vows quicker than you can say "OMGAWESOME!" But I'd like them to do this in a package that can be sold as an expansion, rather than a regular patch, since any money they get is money that translates to more work done in a sadly neglected part of the computer games market. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
SUBS17 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 If so, that might just make me start playing Lockon again :) Yeah it wouldn't take much as they already have the 3d model and most of the avionics are similar to the other flyable aircraft. Only thing missing is A/G radar so if they did a C and based the A/G radar off the F-16s from the MLU Tapes then it would be good enough. If they further expanded it with a good campaign and animated ground crew I think alot of people will buy it. It'll be a few years before we see any fighter jets in DCS and also LO series would bring in more simmers to join in the fun. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
