This is total and utter BS. I have 2 i repeat 2 holdon maybe you didn't get that I have 2 LiteOn CD/DVDrws in 2 machines. 1 a two year old IDE and the other a 2 month old SATA, (both were bought from Argos) and I have NOT had ANY problems with either of them and I have both DCS and Lockon and have installed and re-installed both on my 2 machines several times. My girlfriend can confirm this as she has ripped quite a few cd's onto her system and I have played several music cd's on mine even straight after installing either Lockon or DCS. I don't know whats going on with your system mate, if a lazer burns out it's proberbly the drive itself and NOT DCS. So next time, replace the drive and leave Eagle Dynamics out of it!:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Actualy I had a DVD writer die out after installed BS (after I booted the next session I installed it). I was bafled but didnt want to draw any rushed conclusions.

Always better to Think before one Speaks! Back to the Copy-Protection.......

Again - Fatally Flawed Logic!

2. Protection driver

2.1 Do the applications that require activation via the Internet use the protection driver?

No! Since such applications require no optical media in the drive and do not check the uniqueness of such media, they require no protection against optical drive emulators, and therefore, do not use special protection driver designed to work with optical media.

However, according to a publisher’s choice, some applications can employ the protected container technology; the driver is used in this case.

I like the way you conveniently left out the part i have highlighted in bold red, no doubt hoping nobody else read far enough to notice that i am right to have my reservations.

What would solve this issue is for ED to say whether or not they do use this container technology that uses the drivers, because Star Force are literally using their marketing abilities, knowing that most people will assume a false sense of security if they do not read the instructions fully, which of course, helps to sell their product, but them the small print gets them out of any legal implications if they are found out. And, who doesnt read the manual? 99% of people. If somebody actually commits a yes we do or no we dont use the drivers then they are commited to it.

With regards to monitor resolution switching, if theres a respectable LCD monitor guru out there with an unbiased opinion, then im happy to listen and beleive if there a suitable explaination that prooves the rumour wrong. I would rather know the truth than take gambles thanks. It isnt my intention to bash ED about it, just looking to find an answer.

Why don't you just check what drivers are running on your OS?

I think what you are talking about here Shrike, is ONLY applicable to programs that use Starforce (such as Lockon) and not to Blackshark as this uses an entirely different security system than Lockon does. Hence asking for a serial key for both versions of the Sim. As far as I know (ED back me up on this) if you only install DCS and not the current Lockon, you won't have the security drivers (that scan your FC cd to make sure it's genuine) installed on your as the disk never needs to be scanned!

Quite Right......Forgive me, but I was not going to Insult your Intelligence by Stating the Obvious. I will take Care not to Repeat that Mistake again ;)

Should you have taken the time to read through the F.A.Q.'s of DCS:Black Shark prior to Shooting your Mouth Off, you would indeed have noticed that the Copy-Protection utilized does not employ the protected container technology!

As such the inclusion of that specific phrase is not relevant at all to the Product which you seem to have an issue with, ie DCS: Black Shark. With Me?

...What would solve this issue is for ED to say whether or not they do use this container technology that uses the drivers,...

They have..........Ad Nauseum.....You do not seem to want to Hear. But why believe me? Use the Search Function, or better yet, Read the F.A.Q. ;)

Ok thank you for correcting me, and no i dont have a problem with you Viper.

I'm still mystified why my CD read laser stopped working and the DVD laser didnt though directly after installing BlackShark. Its a coincidence i find hard to ignore. And why should StarForce need a pc reboot? whats does it do sub-OS?

All things being said though, i've had a good read around some threads here about 2.0 and found some really good posts from people about how MP will be better as ECM cooldown etc is adressed/implemented, and some really good tactical usage of the helis with fixed wing a/c, and i gotta say, that it all is getting my imagination going for some great missions.

OK guys be gentle with Shrike, he's our new member and his opinion should be considered and respected.

We do not force anyone to like or love the sim that unites us and everyone should be given a chance of free speech.

I'm sure that Shrike UK would start understanding the sim and growing patience in his syllabus with it if we offer him some advices instead of Red Rep he got so far!

Many system changes still require reboots because how they are loaded are during the system startup. Which means it requires a reboot to start up the first time.

Not seen it mentioned or asked anywhere, but, are we gonna be able to change weapon load-outs with the LOFC aircraft in game with FC2.0?

Be a darned nice addition if we can! :) :) :)

You can already do this in LoFC, just before you go into the actual game and fly!

I wish:

1.The fonts on HUD and VSD of USA aircraft were more thick.

2.There were some red or green instrument lights show the Su-25's NAV or combat mode and sub-mode.

Find sources to indicate that the modeling in LO:FC is incorrect compared to the real thing and you might well get it. But if the real thing doesn't have them I'm afraid you'll have a difficult case. ;)

Correct.

FC2 uses the same protection as DCS (Starforce ProActive). There are no drivers installed with it.

Apologies if this has been answered somwhere here ..... just cant find it so far *blush* :

will there be extra plane "slots" in FC2 to add more custom aircraft instead of replacing the stock ones ? (very annoying)

Have you had a look over at lockonfiles.com for the Hud font's?

You can do this anyway with LoFC by editing your meinit file in your lockon\ME folder.

If you can't "add" more slots, tell me how simmod managed it with their A10, or how walmis did it with the F15?

erm... they used existing aircraft slot, F-15 for F-15 and A-10 for A-10

I thought he meant skin slots as some people do call them aircraft slots. Serves me right for looking at the post when I got my mind on other things!
