Thunderbird Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 btw is the aircraft speed accuracy fixed in 2.0 ?
159th_Falcon Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Well, i'm going blue holding my breath waiting in excitement; but I'd rather it was as bug-free as possible rather than here 1 week earlier. Keeping myself distracted trying to think up all the new mission scenarios we can now make. Trouble is the more I think of, the more I can't wait for FC2... Thx Wags for the heads-up! Talking about missions. Will missions that are now made whit the BS ME be online compatible whit the FC2.0 release if you change the now non-flyable planes from AI skill to client? If so, would i be correct that people can start placing ground units now in the BS ME and add the player controlled planes once the FC2.0 update comes out? Finally i highly appreciate it that you have let us know what is going on in regarding the FC2.0 testing/debugging. Would it be to much if i request for an similar kind of update by the end of the week? (Thursday/Friday) And oh, don't forget to get yourself the much needed rest. Sometimes its easier to spot those nasty little scripting errors after a goods night sleep:smilewink: (said the guy who has never written any kind of code:music_whistling:) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The keeper of all mathematical knowledge and the oracle of flight modeling.:)

Nate you can make missions ahead of time in BS, for FC 2.0, just make the FC 2.0 aicraft AI. Then , when we get FC 2.0 just change them to Client (pilot). FLANKERATOR Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Thanks for the update Matt...even it seems quite hard to get a 100% bugless product. Releasing the product, geting feedback from community and then coming up with an update final patch works also in my opinion. I worked in electronics research and development (fighter avionics actually lol) for about 7 years. Software integration and debug was always that long span of time between getting the hardware built and going to production lol We had a version of the voice warning box for the F-15 where Betty kept saying Bing-En Burn Through. Drove us nuts until we found that semi-colon that had no place being where it was lol 2
Ulrich Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 I may correct my previous message a bit: it's a hard work but it's a pleasure also. The most important thing that testers do - they take part in product creation.

Rising Dragon Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Great News!! Has the releasing date been set? And by the way isr, I just want to ask you about that you said the v2 will have: - More accurate flight data that controls flight performance of player-controlled aircraft. This is true for both Russian and U.S. aircraft. - More realistic electronic countermeasure operation and performance - New, more realistic G-tolerance modeling But the lock on website did not metion those improvements. So would we still get those improvements? {REMOVED BY FORUM ADMIN}
TheMoose Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 (edited) FC2 double the price... Humm 15$ to 30$ US. Will it be worth it for only a DX9 upgrade? At that price I would have jumped on a DX10 upgrade at least...Same game after all, with some extras I admit, but 30$ US? It's like 45$ Canadian, the price of an original game... I tought I had the original... actually own 2 copies... I "might" get it, but I'm not convince yet... Don't get me wrong I love ED products, but at that price for only a patch? humm... I'm not going to jump the gun on that one as I usually do. I think I'll wait on the community reactions when it comes out to make my final decision. The expectation are high, if it delivers, then I'll buy... Just my thoughts... RvEYoda Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 (edited) Well, a patch usually is there only to fix things, like clean out bugs right? Some game companies with continous income (hint MMOs) tend to add new content with free patches, but that is not very common in other games afaik, especially not uncommon games like flight sims. FC2 is (well, everone is entitled to their own opinion of course) a lot more than a patch. Not only do you get access to the mission and campaign tools of DCS and can fly together with DCS BS players, you also get a huge list of improvements . slug88 Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 If anything, the upgrade to DX9 is one of the least exciting new features of FC2. I agree, this is far more than "only a patch", and imho easily worth the $30. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I agree, this is far more than "only a patch", and imho easily worth the $30. People seem to miss the fact that it's not mandatory to buy this If people aren't liking what ED are doing with it (like not releasing it as a DCS expansion for god sake, or not updating the flight models so much that you can physically suffer from G forces in your seat or something) then they should vote with their wallets and not buy it. It's so easy; acceptance that unless you're actually creating something yourself, then it's never going to be totally perfect for you and then you buy knowing that it may still have some things that you're not toally down with... otherwise, if the negative aspects of the product outweigh the positives for you then just don't buy it. Sales will send more of a message than pissing away on an internet forum, regardless of developers reading it or not.
