They shoot a large chicken carcase at speed into the engine, and it should have no effect on the engine. Not certain about a thanksgiving turkey! Like you could safely fly at 10M for an extended time anyway in real life at any fast speed anyway, but that is another topic...

So, I guess if the weather is right over the sea, and the plane is perhaps designed for it. I just don't see it happening much over terrain that has trees etc., and I really don't think in RL it would be as easy to do as it it is in LO.

While there is some extreme low flying there, I doubt that they are flying under 10 meters for extended periods of times like you can in Lock On. Either way, I am thinking more about the players in LO who fly under 10 meters to avoid being shot by other player radar missiles. I know this issue has been beaten to death, but I just wish there was a bit more than the announced bird strike to alleviate this problem. Something more akin to LRM's lose radar lock when under 10 meters. 1

If i am correct the Tornado strike aircraft has specificly been designed to carry out low and fast flying missions in order to take out enemy airfield while flying under there radar. Not sure if they fly at or below 10m but its very low at speeds in excess of 700km/h These days they spend most of their time at high/medium level, but they do indeed train for low level strikes. 10m is however a bit too low, on average 200-100ft is more like it. Of course in places like Iraq during desert storm the flat terrain meant they could get down to around 50ft at times, but it take some balls to get down that low when you're moving at 500+ knots.

I believe this was considered insanely low and was not performed for the whole flght (other segments being at 800 feet and 12,200 m) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Opera ps. Any flying below 500 feet is considered low flying and is restricted to specially designated areas in peacetime. There are a lot of cables, towers, buildings, trees and other stuff that can kill you low down and that is not even taking into account effects like microcell downbursts etc which would ruin your day and the extreme turbulence at the surface boundary layer (which is very fatiguing on pilots).

There is a great episode of the Candian show 'Jetstream' where cadets train to fly at 300 ft and 400 knots. In the video you see the F-18's wings flex up and down wildly. (There's not too many birds in desert so 30m may make sense here...snakes and scorpios seem a bigger threat) On the other hand Israelis can land F-15I with one wing...not like anybody else so it wouldn't surprise me they'd be capable of 30m for 2500km! As such there's no point in wasting CPU resources to simulate the 3d object. That's not quite right, you can see a bird coming in RL. In fact, you will see them most of the times, and even will be able to make an evasive maneuver if you are at low speed for example during landing.
