Honda pulls out of F1 after hiring Ross Brawn (man who turned Ferrari into a winner)

 

Honda sells to Ross Brawn without giving him a year to weave his magic for the 09 season.

 

Guess what!!!!

 

Brawn GP wins WDC WCC in 2009 with a car that was built under HONDA with HONDA money and funded by HONDA to race for 2009 :cry:

 

Minus a Honda engine which the car then had to be quickly redesigned to accept a Mercedes motor.

 

Even with a major design compromise for a new engine they still won..

 

HONDA management back home really really shot themselves in the foot for not understanding F1.

 

If Soichiro was still alive this would never have happened :cry:

 

Yup, total dumb move, Whatever Ross Brawn touches turns to gold, if only they waited.

 

They should of gave him a year to weave his magic as you say and then decided what to do, but with all the negative media attention and lack of sales, they had to be seen to be doing something to save money, hence ditching F1.

 

I would of loved for them to stay in F1 as they have a long history when it comes to F1, supplying engines, racing etc. Ok not so much as an actual Honda racing team, but they were big behind the scenes, especially when it came to supplying engines to other F1 teams, they have been associated one way or another with F1 since the 60s if I recall correctly.

 

Hopefully one day they will make a comeback.

 

As for Ross Brawn, that dude is a genius when it comes to F1, him and michael were untouchable a few years back and it cannot all be attributed to the driver, just a pity that they could not make the magic work again in the 2010 season whilst they are both at mercedes.

Rory Byrne a South African was chief designer. He was the third important piece to Ferraris resurgence.

 

Brawn/Mercedes suffered for 2010 because of 2009 campaign and the haziness surrounding future funding etc.....

 

I didnt expect Michael to do anything special this year. Next year if he cant get on it like he used to he should give it away...

Crazy weekend that was, at first we knew he was hurt, but didnt know how bad it was, then it slowly filtered through that he had died.

 

From that day on, F1 hasnt been the same, well not for me it hasnt, even when Schuey was dominating F1 for years, it just wasnt the same as when Ayrton was top dog.

 

Senna just attacked all the time, so you knew you were in for a good race, regardless if he needed the points or not to win the championship. As soon as he got into the car he drove it like his life depended on it every single time.

End of an era for drivers and the development of F1 as the pinnacle. They did all sorts of nonsense to slow down the cars after his death. grooved tyres :(

Yup, after his death, they got carried away with safety.

 

Ok safety is a good thing as we dont want to see drivers dieing on a sat/sun afternoon live on TV, but they went to the extremes in trying to slow the cars down. That and some of the new rules that come in each year which are completely daft.

 

I think it was last season or maybe 2008 where there was meetings and arguements just before the season started about some new implementation that was being brought in. The teams/drivers werent happy and some were not gunna drive, whilst other teams were trying or did ? bring the Fia to court over the matter.

 

Stupid finicky rules that come in one year and are thrown out at the end of the season never to be seen again.

 

Bernie and chums just cant seem to make up their minds about which yearly changes they want to make, then they do it at the last minute which usually causes an uproar between drivers/teams just a few days before each season officially starts.

Strange how both cars with the same name look totally different.

 

Compare the above to our version, albeit this is the rs version, but the rest look similar.

 

 

theres a coupe version 2 door of mine, i need the 4 door and economy engine for family :>) also has a good sized trunk = boot , throw the misses in it when shes bad lol.
