COLD WAR Echo Event is made for LockOn: Flaming Cliffs 1.12 combat flight simulator users, and in future for LockOn: Flaming Cliffs 2 users, after release in early 2010.

In this event we simulate possible air conflicts of Cold War between USA and USSR. Where USSR side is represented by russian speaking community, and USA - by english speaking.

Our first event will be held on 27th of February 2010 in honor of LOFC retirement and coming release of LOFC2.

Briefing will be available on 30th of January on our forum.

Registrations for the Event will be started on 16th of January.

Format - 24x24 (may be changed after crashtest).

Simulator version - LockOn: Flaming Cliffs 1.12a/b

Website - http://www.coldwarecho.com

Forum - http://www.coldwarecho.com/forum

P.S. Yeap that's a same idea as CoopArcher, but I think I have a right to make new event, because TorwaK is very busy in real life, and I was a co-founder of CoopArcher ;)

Blues will have: F-15C, A-10A, Su-27, MiG-29A, MiG-29S (less then reds), Su-25, Su-25T

Reds will have: F-15C (less than blues), Su-27, Su-33, MiG-29A, MiG-29S, Su-25, Su-25T (+ few more without anti-radar missiles)

Legend:

There was no Gulf War, so Iraq was successful on capturing nearby territories, selling captured oil, and buying soviet military equipment. Then Iraq decided to have access to Mediterranean Sea and invaded Israel, war is still going on and lot of airbases with F-15C were captured, so Iraq gave them to USSR to have discount on soviet planes.

While Iraq-Israel war is going and lot of soviet specialists are helping Iraq army to learn soviet equipment and tactics, US invaded Black Sea and successfully captured Crimea by surprise, with few airbases with MiG-29A/S, Su-27, Su-25/T.

Ok registration for CWE-10-I will start on 16th of January at noon (GMT).

On our forum there will be 2 threads:

"CWE-10-I | US Registration" and "CWE-10-I | СССР Регистрация"

For each side there will be 36 pilot slots available, and 4 for ATC. Totally 40.

Note that only 24 pilots and 2 ATC will go into battle. So other pilots and ATC are needed for reserve, because each side will discuss and choose their tactics, so different pilots needed to be able to apply any tactic on the field, and replace absent pilots on battle day (sick, emergency, no internet, etc.).

Additional registration rules may be applied by side organizers (registration in pairs only, for particular aircraft, etc.), they will be posted in registration threads.

Just wanted to re-post this in the correct thread:

ANyone going to record this?

Don't want to miss this :D

Yes, please!

Can someone make a suitable epic video of this....Or if no one wants to, then I put my hand up that you can send me the tracks to stephanmd@aapt.net.au and I will make something with it.

You can see what I am capable of here:

O, and if there are so many aircraft, there should be no respawns, once you are out, you should stay out I think.

  • 3 weeks later...

Ok, CWE-10-I Event is over.

Thanks to everyone who participated.

Official results will be available after about one week after analyzing LO and TacView tracks, but it won't change much because we all saw Soviets' dominance.

Well I think the key was in more defensive tactic and huge choice from pilots. Also Soviets had 2 GCI/ATC who splitted the load in rush hour.

See you all on CWE-10-II !

Yes, Thanks to everyone who put much work into this event. It was well organized. Congratulations to Red for their win. Red obviously put much work into their preeration. Nice job!

Many people including myself dropped connection or had Lock On crash. I wish that the rules were changed that if anyone has a system crash, they can reconnect at anytime.

Also, ECM blinking and below 10M flying seemed to be used. While the fault is with Lock On for allowing this, it makes for uninteresting game play. I guess Lock On FC 2 will help with those 2 things I hope.

Thanks again!

We will switch to LOFC2 as soon as it will be available.

Reds say that they had also bout 5 losses because of connection drop or some other technical issue.

Indeed! Perhaps we can do the next one on a more suitable server (located in US?)... Because those located in Asia, such as myself had terrible pings to RAF (500++)... thus were unable to fly... :(

But being a GCI i could say that RED did a much better job regardless of more numbers present... so congrats!

See you next time!
