Nice videos, but does anyone find the english voice very difficult to hear? It's because of that filter they have put on it to make it sound like radio comms. I don't get the point, this very complex stuff that you are trying to learn, it doesn't help having to strain your ears to catch what is being said.

 

I would have prefered normal high quality mic and voice over. I dont remeber it being this bad with the BS training videos (although, those also could have done without the "radio com" filter imo). I guess I'll just have to use head phones.

Youtube really isn't the best means to judge video/audio sound quality. These vid's have been compressed to hell and back so it makes all the audio flat).

The main problem is not the "radio filter" (please compare to one of Russian video - they have "penetrative" VO and 100% readable. Even if you don't know Russian you can identify each word). The problem for me is in final mixing -VO must be boosted.

 

The second issue is the echo (iron barrel sound) but it is not so critical if the level would be higher.

That was it, sorry :blush: I couldn't believe it but I recalled that I'm currently using beta build of my browser so it may be the cause. Are artifacts/poor quality at 720p also only problem on my machine? On my vid you can see the finest details crisp and clear http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHgaVKEOjus. ED's videos are not much better on 720p than on 480p from what I see. Sorry if it it looks like bitching. I'd just like to watch some of those in high quality.

Yeah the 720 is slightly better, but not by much and the compression is fairly high.

i only have a girlfriend, but after the release, as far it comes out as we hope it will, i have to buy fc2.0 2 times and a new joystick also maybe something else, rearrange my office, cause my grilfriend will start to fly fc2.0 when it is good and out :-)

Good luck with that. I know of only one case where a significant other has also taken up flight simulation.

Just to put things in perspective: I was joking with all the "Ouches" etc, my Wife and I share various hobbies, so when she needs a new pair of binoculars for her's and mine birdspotting or anything else it's a joint decision. Last year We purchased a $12,500 lens for one of our Canon Cameras, she does birdspotting and so do I but I also sit at the end of runways taking aircraft photo's while she sit's and reads. Marriage is a 2 way street and luckily I have one of the best Wives in the world. I hope your Girlfriend / Wife and you share things together ..... it's a way to make a marriage work

 

PS I'm 6Ft 3In and she's 5Ft 4In and yes sometimes she does "rule the house" lol

It's not about the money, it's about losing us to the other love - the computer. At the end of the day, I use my usual line "Honey, aren't you so glad I'm at home with you and not out at the pub drinking and gambling with my mates" :music_whistling:

look i understand most people are joking,

most of the time i am too, that is also the Aussie way.

 

my wife is a champ, but does not share my love for sims,

yet understands my passion and never questions my hobbies,

nor do i question hers, a boy needs his toys :D

 

as for buying her something, it's a safe approach if required.

i am flat out getting my girl to buy herself stuff :D

i have to tell her, if you want it just bloody well get it.

now that's a rare find i bet, she's a keeper

 

as for FC v2.0 and when it comes out

in the end who cares how you get it,

even if it costs you double or your dignity :thumbup:
