Is "Tonka" suppose to be a Tornado? What a stupid nickname. Must be a Brit thing.

You're right. Naming an aircraft 'the turkey', on the other hand, is a splendid display of felicity.:D

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

It's known as the Tonka because it's big, heavy and not all that sophisticated much like the metal toy vehicles made by Tonka Toys in the 80s.

Tornado is a good air-ground aircraft but I don't think it was particularly good at air-air.

It wasn't, in fact it was bloody aweful as a figher, in fact the only reason the F3 version was ever made is because the government at the time didn't want to buy another US made aircraft to replace the Phantoms. The GR4 however is totally unrivalled as a low level strike aircraft and isn't far behind the Mud Hen when it comes to other types of strike and general ground attack missions.

The GR4 would be a great addition to the DCS world (as a Typhoon man I feel dirty just saying that), but to be honest I don't see it or any other UK aircraft being modelled to be honest. The MoD is highly unlikely to pay for a desktop simulator, even if by some miracle they agreed it might be useful.

It depends, If ED is willing to commit right now resources for AG radar modeling or not?

If NOT then i really would like the AH64A or Su27

if YES then F16, so that finally Falcon 4.0 can stop jumping out of its grave.

If that wouldn't work out ED could still have the possibility to try and get a contract from the german Lufwaffe, no? I could be wrong but IIRC they're going to keep the Tornado in service longer.

Some people might even prefer to fly a german IDS instead of a british GR.4... (and vice versa)

How about the ECR aswell? Doesnt that carry about 6 or 8 ALARMs? :)

Im a dirty Harrier bloke but I think its a bit too similar to the A10, Tonka it is then! :)

Can we get the Mach Loop terrain too? :)

Not quite a Harrier though..

I'm also wondering what will be next. As for me, i would like to see some kind of light-weight fighter like MiG 29, F-16 or F/A-18. By the way, ED team - have you already decided what you will release next and still keep it in secret or you will decide after you will release the final version of A-10?

Our numbers are growing mwuhahahaha.... Mach loop combined with DCS standard Hawk/Harrier/Tornado or Jag would be virtual bliss!!

Just as long as the DCS Harrier doesn't look like this:

[RAF crash at Khandahar May 2009]

What..? up in smoke..;)

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

I guess being such a tough aircraft to fly its expected that people here might think they arent up to the task ;)

For example, that crash at Khandahar was pilot error :pilotfly:

Do you have any more info on that crash? He hit the ground so hard during landing you'd think he was sleeping if the only problem was pilot error.

This is just ridicules, do you REALLY think that accurate info about those 4.5th/5th gen fighters is to be found?! You gotta be kidding me.

You are not going to see a real study sim for those jets for a very VERY long time.

I'd be happy with F-16C Block 50/52 or better, the F/A-18C.

Can't speak for the 5th gen but VRS has done an excellent job with the Super Hornet so it's very possible to make a DCS title with the Super Hornet. Is it my choice for a next DCS title? no. I would much rather have a legacy Hornet, but I'm hoping that a Su-27 be made next.

Most of the stuff VRS did is guess work. It's a very good FSX addon though.

p.s. welcome to the furoms.

what a horrible poll :D

F-35 and F-22 ya sure in 25 years when DCS can get the unclassifed info.

get real..the only fighter that actualy can be made right now (F-16) is not on the list lol.

voted F-18 , those who voted F-22 or F-35 i hope u are 12 years old so u can fly them when u reach 30...

and even though im not a huge russian fan where are the russian jets? or a mirage?

sigh.

I have to agree. F-22 and F-35? They are classified and nobody will able to make a good study sim.

Due to this limited poll, I vote for FA-18E Super Hornet. If you find that landing A-10C is hard, wait until you see DCS FA-18E with it's carrier landings :joystick:
