Are these going to fit the bays? Current ARMs are rather big suckers.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

I don't see why not. On the other hand, the F-35 can deal with SAMs by just dropping SDBs or JDAMs on them as well. Not as fast as a HARM, but far less likely to be decoyed, and they're quite destructive by comparison. Reaction time is probably similar to that of using a HARM, though response time is less.

The question is whether you'd want to enter said SAMs engagement radius, i guess.

Did you watch the video? When you and your wingman's bubbles intersect, you are invincible.

Cant wait to see the air quake servers if you can fire missiles backwards without any course deviation.

Voted the F-18, btw the only option out of the 4.

F-35 and F-22 are out for obvious reasons.

F-14: Nice plane but let's face it: AIM 54? .. Tom Criuse? .. Cyndie Lauper?

Also it's a 2 seater: online maybe fun but singleplayer hmm..

Why would you? SDBs can cruise to 10's of nm, so can JDAMs with SWAKs.

Besides, what's the engagement radius of a SAM against a stealth fighter implementing EW?

To hit a decoy. Millions of dollars in technology, training, effort, fuel ..... to hit a few thousands of dollars worth decoy. No wonder we are trillions of dollars in debt.

An F-35 can hit plenty of decoys, as well as your real site in one pass. There's no issues with HARMs guiding in on 'modified microwave ovens' in this case. The ESM/RWR confirms the location of the target, it is imaged by the radar and DAS/EOTS, the coordinates are loaded in the bomb, and your decoys are now wasted money. Certainly, decoys can be made more complex, but it's now getting to the point where your decoy essentially needs to be the radar you're trying to simulate.

That's a very nice fairy-tale for kids. And, I must admit an average attempt sales pitch. Still dreaming? Now wake up and go back to reality.

Ahh but at least you admit it will hit it. Would hate to spend the money and miss the decoy. Just throw out a few more jdam and hit the SAM site as well. Does the F35 radar pick up the launch site or just the radar point?

The radar picks up things a radar would pick up. With radar mapping it will pick up the shape as well, plus you have the EORS.

You could essentially have a (software) self-defense mode where upon a SAM locking onto you the radar and EOTS would be cued to the offending radar's location, GPS coordinates downloaded to a bomb, and you might only need to pickle.

HARM has such a self-protect mode, and allegedly AIM-9X will be getting some programming to tackle ground targets.

I have only a vague idea of how radar works.

Does the F35 show the pilot the launch location of where the SAM lifted off, or just where the radar signal of the SAM station is located at? So the pilot is looking at either the radar station (or decoy station) or he is looking at the point the SAM lifted off the ground. The latter being the better target point for his first JDAM I think.

Yes, it does. The DAS picks up the missile launch signature and displays it - this is the main launch/weapons fire detection system, with the RWR becoming somewhat secondary for close-in launches.

I'd love to get more Russian hardware, especially older types like MiG-23/27, Su-22M4, (late) MiG-21 models. Some western/NATO planes I'd like: F/A-18, F-14, Harrier, Tornado, Viggen.

I've heard you can drive Strela-10 and shoot to enemy. It adds huge fun part to game.

Please add even basic controls to take control over vehicle weapons :D

Just give me an advanced flight model of MiG-29... never mind avionics or graphics :)

I'd love that for all FC 2.0 aircraft that still have the simple FM. I'm waiting since 2003 :D

But how much work is it? It's not just the flying physics. At least the gear need a serious overhaul then to grant correct physics on the ground, especially on take off and landing.

But it would make the FC stuff all the same level then. I like to fly the Frogs more than the others just because of the FM.

Never going to have the f22 and f35 cause military wouldn't give up the goods. Who picked the choses in that poll anyways? We need aircraft that mix in good with the already exsiting craft (Ka-50 and A-10). Close air support stuff like AH-64. Thats what I think is next.

I'm thinking its more about what you would like rather than what is possible. Personally I'd like to see it updated. I would prefer the AH-1Z over the Apache myself. With USMC ops off a nicely modeled Helo carrier. That would be some fun. It would be nice to see the survey updated to include a few more options.
