The Good

 

  • Framerates. Great framerate overall for me

 

  • Mission Editor Flags Increased from 0-100 to 1-999,999,999

 

  • The Sound. Just sit at base with the canopy open as someone does a high speed pass and you will fall in love with it.
  • New Models
  • MP Gameplay is pretty fun. But I won't render judgment on it the servers come into their own and offer missions with complex trigger systems.

The Bad

 

 

  • MP air to air refueling still broken
  • Damage on runway doesn't stay in MP
  • Preset payloads are lacking
  • Mission Briefing capabilities seem lacking.

 

 

The Ugly

 

  • Removed KH-41 from Su-33 inventory. I know it was unrealistic but it was a fun and unique.

I can still see trees and ships through clouds.. other than that it's mostly all good for me :) ... oh and... another bad is inability to pick your own skins and tail numbers :(

I love the high speed low pass while u sitting on the base, Yesterday i was on 104th server and when a guy do a low pass he almost hit me on that time i can feel my joystick was shaking, Forcefeedback i guess? but i asked him to do again and its not shaking this time, i guess you have to be really close??

 

oh yeah about multiplayer now i can fly even with 20 users on the server, on FC 1 if more that 8 players it will be laggy for me, i dont know what changes has been done but ED did a amazing job there

The Bad

Q: Will multi-player aerial refueling be supported in Flaming Cliffs 2.0?

A: Yes with limitation.

 

 

1) Player being the host of the multi-player mission and playing also won't have any problem refueling from the tanker. Also, the player will be able to see the positioning lights (KC-10A), baskets (IL-78 ) and will be able to hear radio communication with the tanker.

 

2) Player connecting to a server will be able to make air refueling with a few differences.

 

-KC-10A limitation: No radio communication, no positioning lights

-IL-78M limitation: No radio communication

 

3) Important note for air refueling with the F-15C, A-10A and "weather" options.

 

Missions creator, if you're planning to add a tanker (KC-10A) to your multi-player missions, you will need to take in consideration the wind settings (Ground, 2000m, 8000m) under the "weather" tab options. Adding wind will prevent the client aircraft's to connect normally to the tanker as the autopilot will overcompensate for the wind and will make the air refueling impossible so you need to have wind set at 0 m/s at the altitude you're placing the tanker unit.

 

4) Fuel tanks on pylons won't be refueled, only aircraft's wings will be.

 

That should answer this problem at least.

Preset payloads are lacking

 

I think that can be added various of payload settings into Custom payload using Mission editor to show up more payload presents via Maintanence radio comms. I may be wrong. never tested it.

Maximus, The only real Maximus in DCS World. :music_whistling:

The only thing I dislike is the limited preset payloads. Every thing ells is a great improvement

I think the server controlled pre-set payloads are a good thing in a way...

 

You can balance missions and allow more realistic payload options, instead of all F15s running around with 8 actives for example as we saw in FC1....

 

But the fact that you cant change tailnubmers now... thats a BIG letdown, IMO... :(

I agree whit you there, and i think i can safely say the same for the whole 159th.

 

Great game, but no custom tail numbers.........:cry:

(yes there still is the skins option but that's one hell off a lot of work and all missions need to be redesigned if someone comes in and join a wing)

Well, to be honest i haven't played 1.12 long enough to judge on the matter, though i think ED did a pretty good job at modeling explosions and stuff.

I sort of miss the all-amraam payload from the rearm menu, but if server admins want such a payload

available they can always set it as the default payload for the mission.

My initial reaction is good, even if I need to go back to school for attacking with the Vanilla & T,

I had somthing weird happening in multiplayer, after taking off in the 25, could not get the landing gear up or flaps, kept pressing buttons on keyboard (And) Hotas, this went on for about 20 - 60 seconds then it worked (havent a clue) got shot down and came out of server, so did not try again, so I am not posting this as a bug, I will try tonight and see if it happens again.

Got a drop in FPS when using the vickrs screen( in the T), :huh:

Scenery is brilliant BTW

For me so far, its great package, thanks to all who worked so hard to bring it out.

Several guys in 3Sqn have mentioned this....

 

THE CHAT BOX

 

Can't make it smaller and takes up 1/3 of your screen. With kill messages currently on in the servers (how exactly do you turn those off again?) it becomes incredibly annoying when that enemy Mig you are in a turning fight with is hiding behind text.

So far:

 

+

- fell inside cockpit

- sound

- new map

- new 3d models

- control setting separate for every plane

- can add flares in .lua scripts ;)

- no fps drop while things explode, or missiles are launched

- ballistics

- delay on fire button ( firstly i thought i could not shoot at all)

 

-

- Can't see what skin i choose in mission editor

- poor overall FPS rate, but its due my hardware not FC2 itself (FC1 gets more FPS)

- humancockpit "yes" trick don't work

Neg, the way it works is that each plane has a set number of payloads that appear when you go to the maintenance option in game and these CANNOT be changed. You can only add one custom payload per plane and this will be the 'default payload'. You set this default payload in the mission editor by highlighting it in the payload editor. What ever payload is highlighted is the default when you load in the mission.

full shadows are quite pixelated (not smooth lines) but I think this is already worked on in DCS A-10C.

 

Also tonight few of us flew the Su-25T and Su-25A (what a ball flying rocket and gun pods attacks in this thing is :thumbup: ) and there was glitches in nav lights flickering at certain angles and also the shadow.

Lots of games that have the real-time shadows like this look the same way. I think its just sort of the side effect of them being real-time.

Affirm, baskets but no comms.

 

Edit: Also as opposed to the F-15C and the A-10A the SU-33 air refueling won't be affected by the wind.

I wonder that nobody noticed it before the release ?

 

The question arises, why it was touched / changed at all like some other things that were OK in FC 1.1, but are not OK anymore ... I can't see a need that had been there to change the chat size ...

... like centerline and wingtanks for example....
