foxwxl Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 (edited) ____________________________________ First Floor is out of date , we are now talking about stop Glass Rendering, See 8th Floor ____________________________________ Is there any way to disable the "Reflections" in the cockpits just like the FC1? I've found the options.lua in "Flaming Cliffs 2\BlackShark\data\scripts" but the default reflection settings is "false" , but we still have it in our cockpits. I have some screenshots shows we can have a great FPS change while the cockpit reflections on and off..... The first one, cockpit shut off, FPS 59 Second one , cockpit open, FPS 75 SAME scenery, GREAT difference.....maybe someone can give us a hint~:D Edited April 11, 2010 by foxwxl Deka Ironwork Tester Team
Boberro Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Probably glass ;] It is almost transparent object\texture with trails ;] Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
AustinN360 Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 One way I have found is by doing a search for "reflect" in your FC2 directory or even look in your temptextures folder. There you should find these 6 files: a-10-pit-reflect.tga, f-15-pit-reflect.tga, pribor-25-reflection.tga pribory-reflect-27.tga, pribory-reflect-29a.tga, pribory-reflect-29g.tga These are your reflections files. One thing you can do is make a backup of these outside of the temptextures folder and delete the original or just rename them by adding a number or anything else anywhere in the filename. Hope this helps.
159th_Viper Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Canopy Scratches Q: Can I disable/remove the canopy scratches? A: An unofficial “no scratches” mod as attached below can be used to remove the canopy scratches. Make sure you back up your original files. Navigate to \...\Bazar\Effects\Canopy and place the two .bmp images from the mod into the folder to overwrite the originals. See the FAQ - http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=876140&postcount=1631 Scroll to the bottom of the post for the link to the relevant mod. Will remove the scratches and add to your FPS. golfsierra2 Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 There is a ModMan 'Canopy without scratches' Mod available for FC 1.12. Haven't checked it yet with FC 2.0, but is was the same positive effect on FPS: "New canopy without scratches mod v2.0 This mod helps you to get better fps in F1 view like Kovy's "Fast canopy with no scratches" mod but all outside canopy effects are perserved It's very useful if you use Walmis's F-15C model, you'll never see a transparent canopy on Walmis's mod as you saw with Kovy's mod, it'll look like the picture is attached in the mod. foxwxl Posted April 11, 2010 Author Posted April 11, 2010 (edited) No,jerda, those mods take care about the scratches. I've tried disable the reflections on those files, just delete the TGA files or edit the TGA files to remove the background layers. That's work, but only on the NONE REFLECTIONS issues, NOT the FPS[Explanation below]. These are some picitures show the none reflections. Notice the still great difference FPS change between canopy open and close, IN my point it's 5~10 FPS increase. Front, canopy OPEN, FPS 58 Front, canopy CLOSE, FPS 53 Side, canopy OPEN, FPS 75 Side, canopy CLOSE, FPS 59 ________________________________ Now I think it's not only the reflections or the scratches. It's the RENDERING OF GLASS[using the ALPHA channel for transparent]cost a lot of FPS. So anyway to stop this rendering? Not just change some textures. Breakshot Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Interesting point... Id also like to know what causes such a drastic difference in FPS... Tim "Breakshot" Mytrofanov | C.O. of 51 ПВО / 100 КИАП Regiments | twitch.tv/51breakshot
golfsierra2 Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 IMHO it could be the light effects that interact with the scratches. The canopy scratches only light up at certain view angles and the sunlight, which has to be rendered. Scratches are not just textures that are visible all the time. kind regards, Raven.... foxwxl Posted April 11, 2010 Author Posted April 11, 2010 I have used No Canopy Scratches MOD ,Not much difference on FPS, just little help. But canopy Open and Close affects the FPS greatly, regardless whether scratches are on or off. Deka Ironwork Tester Team
golfsierra2 Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 That is not because of the canopy scratches, but because of the mirrors. Use 256 as settings for canopy resolution in options, that equals the lowest resolution for the mirrors. kind regards, Raven.... [sigpic]http://www.crc-mindreader.de/CRT/images/Birds2011.gif[/sigpic]

Maximus Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 That is not because of the canopy scratches, but because of the mirrors. golfsierra2 Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Cockpit resolution not only refers to the mirrors: "RES. OF COCKPIT DISPLAYS. For aircraft that have displays such as mirrors, multifunction displays, moving maps, etc., you can adjust the resolution of these displays using the drop down list. Note that higher resolution settings can negatively impact the smoothness of game play." 256 is the lowest setting, should give the best FPS. kind regards, Raven.... foxwxl Posted April 12, 2010 Author Posted April 12, 2010 RES. OF COCKPIT DISPLAYS mainly effect the MFD or the TV display just like the DCS, we still can't find the answer why FPS change so greatly between canopy open and close.... Anyone knows about the FC2's glass rendering? Oh, of course you can jettison your canopy once in the air...that's will get you extra FPS~ :] Deka Ironwork Tester Team
