We will shut off forced view setting on the server as soon a we can get to it.

Awesome news! I'm also one of those who tweaked my FOV and I'm actually limiting both zoom and wide view in cockpit.

I get less disoriented by not having such a high zoom in the A-10 and I can see a few more instruments while zoomed in. Below is my prefered values....

Stock

CameraViewAngleLimits[PlaneIndex.iA_10] = {20.0, 120.0}

My prefered FOV settings

CameraViewAngleLimits[PlaneIndex.iA_10] = {30.0, 83.0}

Thanks for a great server and I will enjoy it even more if I'm allowed to use my prefered FOV settings!

Thanks Crunch!

I am a little late to the discussion, but I know exactly what Hajduk is talking about regarding the zoom keys being disabled when using Tir for zooming. I have been working around it by leaning forward slightly when I center my TrackIr. That way when I set back in my chair its zoomed out to about where I want it.

Thanks for flying the 104th! 104th_MoGas and 104th_Crunch put a lot of effort into making our current mission, Operation: Liberty.

Airport operations are clumsy at the moment, to say the least. I will bring this topic up with those higher up in the squad. It is my personal belief that we specify the active runway. This can become quite confusing otherwise. We also need to find a way to keep people from taking off on taxiways.

Again, thank you for flying our server!

This messy airports has always been a problem and one of my pet dislikes.

Why cant we have someone acting as an Air Traffic Controller during busy times? It would add a hell of a level of immersion and be great fun. People could be warned and banned from the server for not following directions.

I was doing this before ( FC1) but the Track IR with no zoom is much better for me now in FC2.0 as i can really use the axis and modifed my zoom with one touch that can be modified in an other file. Much faster more precise.

Yes like FSX, i would love this and using FC2.0 not only for combat is great !

There is an ATC and Ground Controller module available, the German squadrons use it, and it was certainly used at LLTM. Very useful, you can choose to see all, red only, blue only with associated radar and SAM threat coverage.

I'll let someone from one of the German squadrons give more details.

The 104th server is pretty stable considering at times there was 50+ people on the server. I encourage you all to hop in there and check it out!

I'll do so as soon as I get my copy. We all here are waiting for the boxed version.

The tool Jim is referring to is vJaBoG32's ATC Client.

We have been using it for the LLTM Lockon championship for the last three years, mostly for the BVR Night mission.

Both coalitions elect a GCI controller who will guide his aircraft to their targets.

Since the pilots fly at night, they rely on their GCI controller giving them correct bearings.

The GCI controllers in this mission have both SAM and airbase radars at their disposal, and can see about 20 to 30 km past the front line, giving an overlap of 40 to 60 km where both controllers see everyone.

This year, we went a step further, by adding a GCI role to the SEAD mission as well.

In this mission, the GCI could only use his SAM radars, which were targeted by the SEAD flight of the opposite team.

As radars were taken out, he would gradually become blind, making it more difficult, and in the end even impossible for him to guide his aircraft.

The ATC Client can also be used for air traffic control for an airbase.

If the operator zooms in to a sufficient level, he can see the airfield layout, and follow aircraft movements on the ground as well as in the air.

We use this feature to manage the LLTM Airshow on Sunday morning.

I will post some screenshots I made at the LLTM later.

Why waste your time policing this when it can be automated?

Some clever placement and usage of trigger zones and triggers and any pilot taking off in the wrong direction or from the taxiway will get to see a nice message saying he broke server rules and 5 seconds later the trigger explodes his aircraft. Then he can restart his engines and either follow server rules, or go through the whole exercise again.

Love it!

DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices

I like this as well!

Joe Kurr that sounds fantastic, would like to see that in action some day on the 104 or somewere.

Some of you may noticed that there is no Tree being enabled on 104th. the 104th server setting are set to low to keep crashes to minimal...

if you want to see tree that badly. there is work around with it.

go to FC2.0 Folder

Bazar\Terrian\Scene

Create a new folder to back up and put High.scn, Medium.scn and low.scn into i.e. FC20\Bazar\Terrian\Scene\backup

Then delete Medium.scn and Low.scn in folder FC20\Bazar\Terrian\Scene

copy the high.scn original file and rename it to Medium.scn and low.scn the file size should be exactly same as High.scn.

then start up FC20 and you will see tree everywhere :D

As promised, here are two screenshots showing the ATC Client in action:

Since the server had Freemode (which allows anyone to choose any radar) disabled for the BVR Night and SEAD mission, I had to join either Blue or Red. On the screenshots below I joined the Blue side.

Result of this is that I can only see the names of the blue team, red forces only have numbers.

1. Overview of the battlefield in the CAS mission, where I used the ATC Client to keep an eye on everyone. The vertical line is a draggable bearing line, which I used here to indicate the front line.

(being the referee, I had to cheat a bit here, and selected both Blue (Krymsk + Krasnodar-Center) and Red (Maykop + Krasnodar-Pashkovskiy) airbase radars. Players obviously were not allowed to do this)

ATC_Client_1.png

2. Close-up of Maykop Airbase, which was the Red Team's home base. Red won this mission, you can see them RTB here.

ATC_Client_2.png

Below are two photos of Zim and Exter acting as GCI controller in the BVR Night mission.

3. Zim has enabled the altitude map, rivers, radar ranges and final approach lines

IMG_7968.JPG

4. Exter has only enabled radar ranges, and is using the bearing line to guide one of his buddies to a bandit

Is this tool functioning with FC2.0 or DCS:BS? This seems to be an excellent utility and there is very apparently a lot of work in it!

We have looked into using the tool for past events, and were VERY impressed with it's fuctionality, however, to use such a tool effectively on a public server requires:

- someone to act as tower over multiple airfields OR

- several someones to act as tower over an airfiled

- EVERYONE on the server must be on voice comms

- EVERYONE on voice comms must have a "whisper to xyz" key set to talk to tower

- the tower must have a "Whisper to 123" key for EVERY client (or an alternative comms method...there must be a better way in TS3 now)

Thats a lot of work for a public map, Still,

Definately worth considering some "special" nights on the server...

Waooo!! ok ok now FC2.0 is starting to be impressive if this is added..

This will be a huge benefit to the community by far!!!

It is time to use Lockon/FC 2.0 with BS as a Simulator..

This is a must. Thanks for sharing and yes please consider the release , from the simmer and Pilot that sim........ Thank you.

Fly it like you stole it..

You can also create a separate channel for each tower, where pilots have to switch to in order to talk to the controller.

This way you simulate switching to different radio frequencies for different control areas.

One obsticle springs to mind, and thats the language barrier, not all people flying online speak english...

Good point Mustang, but this obstacle already exists.

The rules that need to be followed regarding taxing and takeoff would have to be broadcast by server in all languages at the start.

Very very cool avatar, totally spinning me out!
