jpanside Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Questions for May 31st Flight: 1. Does Senaki not have ILS? I tuned into both the VHF and ILS frequencies but I got no beep beep from them. Also, the ILS indicator just stayed red even when I was flying very close to them. I was talking to their tower but the ILS was not doing anything (108.90). 3. I flew back to Batumi to see if my ILS worked, well it did get the signal from Batumi, but this time there wasn't any yellow cross hairs that appeared! Why did this happen? I am so used to the vertical yellow line coming across the instrument panel when I pass the runway and the yellow glidescope line. 2. For some reason all my labels on my instrumental panel disappeared in my flight. I didn't change any of the settings. This a bug? Screenshot attached. Thanks!

AkeR Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 You may want to delete or rename your "\Saved Games\DCS Warthog" folder and try again. No success! This seems like an anti-crash preventive function for medium or low systems. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Relayer Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 Is there a way to disable or bypass 32bit options restriction? My system is powerfull enough to handle high settings in 1.1.0.7, so why I can't decide myself what settings to set? I felt pretty much like this - pretty bummed out, and this was the response I got which I was perfectly happy with. You can tinker around with options.lua, but bear in mind it's not in any way 'officially' supported. "I know that as a user it might look strange, but there are non-trivial reasons why 32-bit systems is a problem, and in the specific case of 1.1.0.8 there was completely new stuff introduced that caused further issues. (You might not as a user see it, but just take my word that the software is complex and sometimes a superficially small change requires major changes elsewhere.) The 32-bit address space is just too small, and corners have to be cut to accomodate it. So sadly, in my own personal opinion: just spend the 80 dollars it costs to update to a non-ancient operating system. The 64-bit switch is 5 years overdue for computer games and they need to start taking advantage of what is offered." So essentially, the requirements of running on high between 1.1.0.7 and 1.1.0.8 have changed due to code being changed behind what we (users) see. So...64 bit seems to be the way to go! 1
GripenNG Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Hey I´m a Swedish youth who has some problems with the front landing gear during take-offs. It has happend me three times during the last six months that my front gear brakes when I´m about to take off. I turn of the nosewheel steering at around ~50 KIAS, just to be sure I don´t exceed 70 knots. I keep the plane straight down the runway along the centerline, whitout much steering from the wheel or the rudders. I start the rotation at about 120 knots, and of course I have the Anti-skid on aswell...but still the front gear brakes  I know three times in six months isn´t that much to argue about, but I´m picky and want to do it right! So does anyone have an idea why this happens and what I might change in my take-off procedure. :pilotfly: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Snooze-81st-vFS
EtherealN Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Attach a track or three where you take off and I'll look. (Eller PMa så kan jag skicka lite mer detaljerad info.) Cibit Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 In a scenario where a 3 plane flight was preparing for a descent through thick and deep cloud layer with zero viz on ils approach could the lead plane set up AA tacan for the wingmen to maintain distance. Or does the ground tacan work alongside the ils I like navigation is there any resources pertinent to learning about these different types of aviation navigation i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
Laud Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Yes, TACAN is working parallel to ILS (as long as it is available at the AB). You just need to choose which one to be displayed on your ADI/HSI (NMSP). I always use this take-off procedure without exceptions...so does something look strange? Thankful for answers and feedback on my continuis flight training :book: Not seeing anything directly wrong in your track that would cause this, except for one point: was there a lot of crosswind when the nose wheel broke? A few minor notes though: Takeoff: you might get an advantage through adding some back-stick pressure earlier, this would reduce the weight on the nose wheel and hopefully make the plane "bounce" a bit less during your roll. Landing: you are way too violent in landing - your nose gear essentially slams into the runway and you then use wheelbreaks to halt your motion. You are also slightly overspeed during most of your approach. A better method is to "aerobreak" the plane: keep the nose up for a while and let the air resistance slow you down, then gently guide the nose wheel to the tarmac shortly before it'll "fall" on it's own. Don't be afraid of using the whole runway - it's what it's there for. :) I can make a track of "how I do it" for you if you like. Regarding the nose wheel breakage though, my only guess is something happening in combination with a crosswind. GGTharos Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 I don't think you're supposed to aerobrake hogs ... instead, you use the brakerons at 100% :D Apply wheelbrakes when below 50kt. EtherealN Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 You definitely aren't supposed to slam the noswheel into the tarmac first thing, though. :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
GGTharos Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 With that I agree - the only time you're allowed to slam a plane into anything is on carrier landings or nuke reactor bunker testing! :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
GripenNG Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Thanks for the good tips! Will definitly practice more on soft landings and not to push the brakes to hard after touch-down! I´m indoctrinated in swedish fighters with the short-landings, but as mentioned earlier there is a reason why the Hawg don´t operate from roadbases :smilewink: As for the crosswind the first time the gear broke I remember there was a strong wind (not sure of angle). But yesterday it was along the runway in 2 m/s. But I can agree that the take-off rolls have been bumpy, and that I should relive the gear pressure earlier. And for the third, I just learned to post a track file here, but my PC can´t look at them myself, any program that can be downloaded? PM me for answers for that since I don´t wanna go Off Thread :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Snooze-81st-vFS
