amalahama Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Ok. Some 'exotic' things to try: IFFCC: - Minimum altitude in 30mm submenu. This will generate a triangle near gun sight displaying where you are relative to the minimum altitude set. - Vertical velocity scale for HUD NAV mode. - Variable target elevation. Works only when IFFCC elevation mode was changed from DTS to HOT, and loaded gun ammo type is not CM. - GCAS training. You may set false ground plane and PULL UP voice warning will be heard against this altitude instead of the ground level. - Adjustable target data list for A-A gun. You may exclude unnecessary aircraft from the list. Also you may enter any wingspan you want in MAN-FXD and MAN-RTY submenu. - IFF alert. IFF is still non functional in A-10C, but starting from 1.1.1.1 you will be able to hear IFF voice warning, if IFF alert has been set up. This is a reminder for the pilot to change IFF codes. DSMS profile: - DES TOF. It drives a small cue moving along CCIP PBIL. It is actually another bomb sight which may be used to drop bombs with desired Time Of Flight when it is superimposed over CCIP reticle. - MIN TOF/MIN ALT. If entered, it drives Minimum Range Stapple along with minimum frag safety altitude. As an example you may set MIN ALT to 10000 ft, to not fly occasionally lower than this altitude and thus not to expose yourself to AAA and small arms. Enjoy. :) Awesome Olgerd, we need more posts like this  Regards!

Sheppard Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Most of those flags will be removed by the ground crew before the pilot walks to the aircraft. Hello! Yes, it's true. Ok, thanks! Good day!
Pullup Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Hello, just a quick question about this sim. Do objects such as SAM's and AAM's detect collisions such as mountains ? For example, a SAM is inbound and you manage to dive low behind a mountain for cover, will the SAM hit the mountain or fly right through it and hit you ? Thanks in advance ! :joystick:
GGTharos Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 It will hit the ground ... are there any sims even today that don't do this? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Jona33 Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I got a Hotas Cougar, i read somewhere that the trigger has two stages, first the PAC mode then actual fire. How do i configure the Hotas to get that, easy way... Go into options. Find Gun trigger first stage. Set that as any key you like that isn't trigger. Find gun trigger second stage. Set that as trigger. Done. First stage engages PAC 1 which stabilizes on the point the pipper on the HUD is. Second stage includes firing. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

But that is not a good option when your in a steep dive, try to control the hog, try to see the target... and then find the PAC button and then shoot. Is there a way to configure the cougar so the first fire trigger works via script or something? Is there a way to configure the cougar so the first fire trigger works via script or something? Like all "how do I map x" or "why doesn't my x work" the answer is the Thrustmaster Warthog. :smilewink: It's even on sale for 20% off! I'm fairly certain that the TARGET software should be able to "when I pull the trigger first engage PAC then shoot" the problem is you don't always want PAC on the same amount of time and you don't always want to shoot after engaging PAC. Maybe try a modifier or something, hold Ctrl-Trigger = PAC then let go of Ctrl to fire? Or just buy the WH and live in a world where everything just works how it should. :) 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie

Pullup Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 It will hit the ground ... are there any sims even today that don't do this? Thank you, I had seen it listed as a bug a long time ago, and wanted to know if it was an ongoing issue, or was just a one-time glitch or bug that had been quashed. I've tested being locked up or tracked by an SA8 so I would dive and fly behind some mountains. My RWR would continue to go off and even get launched at. I've even seen a missile go through the mountain and hit me. I've tested it several times. So going really low doesn't seem to help fend off radar tracking or behind obstacles. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1122344&postcount=44
KillaALF Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Is there a way to configure the cougar so the first fire trigger works via script or something? Erm, Foxy?
nomdeplume Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 I've never seen that, but there may be some oddities. Trees aren't collidable, so AI can detect you and shoot at you through trees; and you can fly through them. But there's also a strange rendering thing that happens sometimes if there's trees on top of a hill and your graphics settings aren't high enough to render them (not exactly sure if that's the cause). But this creates a kind of ghost layer of terrain which you can actually fly through, but doesn't look like you should be able to. Haven't tried to reproduce this though so I don't know if it happens very often.
ncimike3 Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Question. Why is the anti skid switch put into the A10? In every check list and tutorial I've read, they always say to make sure it is engaged. I was just wondering, what kind of scenario would require that you don't need the anti-skid? wouldn't it make more sense to have anti skid just always on and engaged as part of the the built in system? You would want to disable the anti-skid braking system in the event of a blown (or suspect blown) main tyre. Not doing so would limit the braking force available as both left and right brakes are not independent, on detecting a locked main on the blown side the system would also release brake pressure on the serviceable wheel.
atledreier Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Can I use my Galaxy Tab 10.1 for anything, like the ipad guys can?
Lane Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 (edited) Actually, nobody have make an app for it ( i have not really watch what the App for Ipad/phone do ). airea Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 I am sure it is asked many times but I was not able to find a solution to my problem: For CDU offsetting; *I change the CDU to offset page (no problem) *With the + or - rocker key, I select the Bullseye (no problem) *I get the coordinates from the ATAC or the AWACS in UTM formate, ie HHHDDD (no problem) *I change the CDU coordinate format to UTM (no problem) *I enter the given coordinates in UTM format in HHHDDD style (no problem) *I make a way point, ie increase the waypoint number to a higher number (no problem) *I select the "mission" from the knob below (I dont know its name) (no problem) And finally, I select that newly created waypoint from the HUD and try to acquire the target. However, the targets range is generally indicated as 800 sth miles:) What am I doing wrong? I guess the problem is related to entering correct area on the map in UTM. But how will I know the correct sector? The AWACS only gives locations heading and range with reference to the Bullseye but he does not mention about the UTM sector... By the way, I have another question: How will I know if I completed the mission or not? For instance, I just played the "Midnight Train to Georgia (or sth like that) mission and when I contacted JTAC, he said there was no furhter tasking available, even though I did not shoot anything or got any tasks. Did other mission elements destroy all the targets?

As for midnight train to georgia I always get that despite all the tracer fire. Bug. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

marluk Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 (edited) iPad and Warthog There's a few iPad apps that allow interactive control of the A-10C. Far more than simply reading PDFs or charts. This is my first post, so hello everyone! I'm using iControl DCS which is very cool app for iPad and Warthog. It is third party application from "one man band" but it is pretty ambitious project with good support (from my experience). It allows you to extend cockpit on iPad in bidirectional manner. So you can use touch display to control your beast. Since it is only one man behind application, hope he will continue with work on new features and fixing bugs.
