Boberro Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I'd like to point that terrain even so high is not hmmm in so good resolution.... I know it is still WIP, I hope terrain is one of the mains things which are taken into account of improve them. Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... Sticky Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 My experience with other dx10 and dx11 games vs dx9 is this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Emperor's_New_Clothes Yes I CAN see the difference in demos like unigine heaven for example, and in some screenshots, but once ingame and stuff is moving I havent seen any difference in any game yet. The difference in performance has been to the worse. Sofar! But this is still very good news for the FUTURE of DCS, I have high hopes, but for this DCS release it probably wont be much. A good foundation for future releases, and thats very very good! :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] My Sim/Game CV: Falcon 1,3,4. Gunship. A10 TankKiller. Fighter Bomber. Strike eagle 2&3. F19 Stealth Fighter. Avilator Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 ah never mind it's a bomb-lets casing. I see training munitions too? and what that new ECM pod? on pick #1? and on the rear landing gear housing are those the actual flare and chaff dispenser area? 1.I don't think those are bomblet casings in the first picture, I think they are cargo pods. That makes sense given that the plane is in a ferry configuration with tanks, but I may be mistaken. 2.Yes, you do see training rounds. Pretty much anything that's blue is inert. 3.That's a LITENING pod on the left wing. You can see an ECM pod and LITENING right next to each other in the third pic. 4.You are correct. Those are countermeasure dispensers on the landing gear fairings. The similar-looking devices at the wingtips are also dispensers. I only respond to that little mechanical voice that says "Terrain! Terrain! Pull Up! Pull Up!" Who can say what is impossible, for the dream of yesterday is the hope of today and the reality of tomorrow. -Robert Goddard "A hybrid. coolts Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 (edited) Well, there are my new desktop screenshots for the next few months. To be honest, i was expecting a little GFX bump over BS but nothing like this. Very pleasantly surprised. Almost real. ;) ;) I wouldn't expect a host of DX11 features, but moving to he current gen API brings the coders at ED into the right pipeline, (DX9 and 10/11 are built on completely diffenert principles. Unified shaders, etc. post 10 I believe), for future releases and lets them tap into advanced feature as and when they see fit. Bring it on! BTTW-DratsaB Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Nice screens, thanks. I have been waiting for all my favourite games to start using my DX10 hardware. But now we are skipping it..Doh! Any chance there will be some form of enhancements for DX10 over Dx9? For example Company of heroes in DX10 mode looks a lot better than DX9, as did Crysis. I too have a gtx295 and wont be upgrading for a while. I also am guessing ED will make major effort to ensure SLI (MultiGPU) is made good use of if they are cranking up the GFX engine this much? Anyway, thanks for the screens again, the A10 is looking fantastic. Specs: GA-Z87X-UD3H, i7-4770k, 16GB, RTX2060, SB AE-5, 750watt Corsair PSU, X52, Track IR4, Win10x64. dok_rp Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Up to this very day, DirectX 11 has not increased and inch in the compromise Image Quality x Frames per Second. I have a Phenom X4 955 @3.7GHz and a Radeon 5850 @1125 and 775MHz and the drop in FPS you get from switching from DirectX 9 to 11 is simply appalling or mind-boggling to put it better terms, whereas the improvement in image quality is all but noticeable. In areas which are designed having the new API in mind there is significant difference, specially when it comes to tessellation. However, the loss in fps is so dramatic that it's hardly worthwhile. Directx9 has a lot to offer yet, since it has only become truly optimized in the last few years. I really hope this new conversion does not mean they will simply forget about optimizing the game for DirectX 9. I have downloaded the Benchmark demo for Lost Planet 2 yesterday and playing that game in Directx 11 is simply and utterly ridiculous. They just threw tessellation at everything and while I can get pretty and steady 60+ fps with everything maxed out using Directx 9, when I switch to Directx 11 the highest I get is 30 and it does get down to the low teens!!! Considering the work-around ED still uses to render water, I don't even want to see the result with a tessellated "water-world" running under Directx11. If they don't reeeeeally optimize and improve the engine the way it needs to be improved the results will be laughable at best; that considering many of the results the game industry with far better experience with DirectX11 has been delivering. Well, let's wait and see, but I'm definitely not keeping my hopes up. :pilotfly: 1
wildone_106 Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Well if you ever played Crysis or FSX, the difference from Vanilla DX9 to DX11 is quite stunning. Its about time the flight sim genre joined the DX11 club. AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Novum Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I hope the DX11 stuff will make the trees and stuf like that "working" Just making a product look better is not my way! I want a solid sim.. not a pretty picture.. And its pretty discouraging to let go of the SU-25 ive been very found of.. A-10C hype has not stuck me, im waiting on the future what it will bring.. But i trust in ED.. Keep up the good work!!!

Bushmanni Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 The only thing that immediately pops out and tells me those screenshots are from game is the distance haze. It looks too dark and has unnatural feeling color. Maybe that was the non ideal to-be-fixed part what Wags meant? Otherwise it's stunning.
