Agg Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Maybe that's the trick to playing X-plane, to allways play at night... I dowloaded the demo, and while there are quite a few things there that I like, Im not sure I can get over how it looks..

I think it's too early to jump to conclusions, as the game still seems to be in beta phase. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Phantom88 Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 I think it's just like any New Flight Sim,You need to find a balance of Eye Candy and Performance. Patrick
bart86pl Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Great pictures guys, I`m more than happy with new Xplane. It looks very very good. 1 [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic73792_1.gif [/sIGPIC]
element1108 Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 I think it looks pretty good during the day as well. It's no ORBX, but it's global scenery and doesn't destroy my aged computer hehe. There are always trade offs, I've never been able to run a brand new sim at highest rez so perhaps that's why my visual expectations aren't so high.
Agg Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 I dont know, maybe it's just the art style that I dont like, it looks too "cartoony" for me...

Wichid Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 I got X-Plane 10 and haven't really spent any time learning it yet. Out of the box it didn't look that great for me though so I immediately jumped back into DCS A-10C. I try and learn it over the Xmas break. Yskonyn Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 X-Plane is very much a sandbox of flying fun, just like MSFS out of the box. You and alter, add and remove all you like and the user generated content is where the product can really shine. Still waiting for my copy to arrive. ;) 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Asus Z390-E, 32GB Crucial Ballistix 2400Mhz, Intel i7 9700K 5.0Ghz, Asus GTX1080 8GB, SoundBlaster AE-5, G15, Streamdeck, DSD Flight, TM Warthog, VirPil BRD, MFG Crosswind CAM5, TrackIR 5, KW-908 Jetseat, Win 10 64-bit ”Pilots do not get paid for what they do daily, but they get paid for what they are capable of doing. hassata Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Out of the box, that's already better than my FSX with a whole bunch of add ons. FPS seems good too. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Trident Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 That looks good, love the night lights! Yep, the rest of the graphics, while perfectly alright, are nothing ground breaking (they do compare very well with stock M$FS, no doubt about that!) - but the night lighting is in a class of its own, the best in any flight sim to date.
Phantom88 Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 The night lights are great,This Sim is a Game changer for me. Patrick

Yskonyn Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 (edited) My X-Plane 10 arrived today! I got charged an extra 20 euros for additional tax and clearance cost... not sure if that's ok or not? Anyway, I am currently in the process of installing the sim. I was looking to see wether there was a way to spice up doing stuff in the sim as I am already sitting in the cockpit most days of the year for real and I came across a plugin called XAdventures. The maker(s) claim that this features an adventure creation and playing suite for XPlane, just like the Adventures in FS were. Does anyone of you have any experience with it? Is it easy to use? Are there (better) alternatives for getting more interactive tasks in Xplane? I ask, because while I think its very nice to just fool around in the 'flying sandbox' I feel like I will quickly come to ignore the sim if I can't entertain myself with purposeful flying (missions and the like), because I am doing line flying all the time already in real life and I really do not want to take my work that far and bring it home. Besides a sim can't beat the real deal anyway! Phantom88 Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Yskonyn,Congrats on getting X-Plane10! I'm very new to X-Plane also but their are two active forums that may have info for you.Cheers and Happy New Year! http://forum.avsim.net/forum/335-the-x-plane-general-discussions-forum/ http://forums.x-pilot.com/ Patrick
Yskonyn Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 (edited) Thanks! I absolutely love the terrain and weather in xplane so far. Cannot say much about the flight modelling yet. Also the lighting and the way sunsets and sunrises are done is mindblowing. As well as the roads and their night lighting. Truely realistic when viewed from the virtual sky. I understand the roads are read from the open street maps database. So in theory you could navigate from a to b by road in xplane. Very cool. The one thing I do feel cheated by, though, is the way they decided to populate the cities with buildings and, more importantly, the airports. It turns out we've only seen Seattle in all videos. There they made a custom tailored airport with buildings and doodads, but thats the only one in stock xplane! Everywhere else only the ramps and taxiways and runways are present (cool feature: you can enable the runways to slope with the terrain instead of being straight and level). They claim this was unintended but neccessary for release and main airports will receive builings over time. We'll see. element1108 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 X9 was like that as well with the airports. Only a handful were given buildings. Some you had to pay for others could be downloaded for free. It nice to be rewarded with a somewhat populated and built airport after a virtual flight from Logan to JFK or heathrow to Paris. Always hated that about XPLANE. There's something truly immersive arriving at an international airport and having it feel international.
