Can someone help me out, when I am taking off I can utlise the flaps (clickable doesnt work) but after a a mission when I am landing I cannot delpy them? Is this a bug or is there a system I am missingn out on.

Clickable does work, the switch is just not moving. My only idea is that you are trying to deploy them while flying too fast, in which case the control system keeps them fully up until you reach safe speed.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

easiest way to see is the flap angle gauge..left hand side near the Gear lever.

you haveto map keys to operate (default are shift-f for lower, ctrl-f for raise...press shift f twice to get to 60 degress / landing)

you can only operate flaps once there is hydrolic pressure, which in turn is only available once the engines are up and running (check hydrolic pressure gauges top right front)

flaps will not deploy (and infact will auto retract) if you go faster that 185 knots

Default flaps is F to lower and Shift F to raise. At least that is what I thought it was. Its what I am using.

Open your speed brakes till you slow down then lower flaps. I think when you take off, the flaps will rise automatically.

Mine will go down but not up. Since this is rarely used its like in my bottom 2% of things I am concerned about.

I am currently fighting with my Saitek rudders trying to get the toe brakes working. They are detected as roll and elevator"x&y" so when I try to stop the plane flips! Now that I am concerned about.

Just go into your axis commands on the controller setting and remove them from the roll assignment and then assign each axis to what you want. Although be aware you will probably have to reverse each toe brake axis. By default the sim adds each controller you have connected to the normal flight controls.

Thanks Eddie I will take a look at that in the morning. I was getting pretty good at using the < > to control the brakes.

Speaking of brakes...... Where is a indicator in the cockpit that shows the speed brake position? Its easy enough to look over your shoulder but I know theres got to be visual cue in the pit.

I just fooled with the rudder pedal settings. When I press the pedal it shows up and x or y. Thats where I am getting confused. How to remove the axis? I tinkered with the axis tune killing the saturation but that did not work.

Help............ The entire airport thinks I am drunk the way I taxi.

Just click on the axis assignment you want to remove and click the clear button at the bottom, next to the axis tune button.

Nope. No in cockpit speedbrake gauge in the hog, the good old Mk1 eyeball and good SA are your only indicators.

Question...

In the manual, it mentions setting the Speedbrakdes to 40% for landing. Any ideas how we determine when we have 40% set? Mk 1 eyeball again?

Thanks in advance.

Yes and you can with anything else as well - the control HOTAS Speedbrake Aft causes the brakes to extend, HOTAS Speedbrake Fwd causes them to retract. If you're not doing either (i.e. the switch is in the middle) then the brakes stay where they are.

But it's not an analog position axis; it's just a three-state switch which I think springs to the middle (neutral) position. So to know how far open the brakes are, you need to either look at them, go by feel (effect it has on the aircraft), or by how long you held the switch for (I think they always open at the same rate).

I've come in on final and betty yelled saying speedbrake, and I've also come in on final and not heard a warning for speedbrake. So it seems it is computed by speed. The landings I find I need speedbrakes on are heavy loaded (didn't shoot all the weapons off, 1/2 fuel or more). One landing I had some engine damage on the left engine (bullet hits on the nacelle). It was running hot and using more fuel so I just landed with a slow final where I didn't have to push the engine very hard.

The speedbrake warning is caused by pushing the throttle to max while the speedbrakes are extended (maybe there are other parameters involved, but that's what i remember).
