vrv Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Easy. Sneak it in while she's asleep but make sure to intercept the truck bringing it, while making GAU-8 noises out loud of course, and keep it in the back of the car. Zenra Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Hahaha, me too! God knows how I'm gonna sneak it into the house unnoticed. Please let me know how that works out for you - I've been trying to figure out a plan for doing the same. Some ideas so far: - buy wife a plane ticket to visit er friend in Denver, order and have delivered while she is away - buy wife something even more expensive and take delivery of TM WH HOTAS at the same time while she is distracted - rent an apartment someplace else to take deliver; heck, might as well just set up my whole simming system there - she'll think I am having an affair with all the time I am spending, then be relieved and forgiving when it's reveiled I am "only" flying A-10 instead Any way I look at it, DCS A-10C is going to be an expensive release for me... Steel Jaw Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 I am most unlikely to find the funds for this. WTF does it have to so GD expensive?? Really, who can afford this damned thing??? Zenra Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 I am most unlikely to find the funds for this. WTF does it have to so GD expensive?? Really, who can afford this damned thing??? I agree, but ever since they made "WCS" back in the Falcon 3.0 days and all the way through to the Cougar I've learned that I can't hold out for long and just start figuring a way to pay for the next offering sooner than later... Ragtop Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 I just about managed to find the funds, don't ask me how cause I'm still working on figuring it out, but it's been a boring month that's for sure! If it wasn't for DCS beta I'd have had nothing to do, and would probably have spent my funds! Luckily my next pay is the 26th, so it works out about right. Next months pay goes on upgrading the PC! 476th vFG Alumni
kylania Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 My preorder isn't shipping till 11-02, so another payday between now and than, so it's all good! :) Of course, now I have to get rudder pedals and MFCD panels... and a helmet and flight suit.. and a life. :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie
Ragtop Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 I keep putting it out of my mind that I need rudder pedals right now, which is really going to bite me in the ass when it gets here and I've still got my X-twisty2 plugged in on the floor with a pole taped to it! *Laughs, pauses, strokes chin and looks at X-52 with destructive eyes* 476th vFG Alumni
Poor mans sniper Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 *Laughs, pauses, strokes chin and looks at X-52 with destructive eyes* NO!!!! :( How much for it? I need one BADLY.
kylania Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 NO!!!! :( How much for it? I need one BADLY. I'll sell you mine for $408! :smilewink: As for the rudder lack, I think I'm going to try the cheap option mentioned in the SimHQ feature: 1. Use the HOTAS Warthog with no pedals This option allows the user to assign a rudder axis to the rotary on the throttle base if he or she wishes. Although using this rotary requires the left hand to be removed from the throttle, it is certainly the simplest and most inexpensive option. The throttles could also be unlocked and one of the two throttle levers could be assigned to the rudder axis. Spectre_USA Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 A throttle for the rudder axis? That sounds painful. As to the price on the heavy metal Warthog, I agree with Mower, that is WAY outta line, IMHO. I'll just struggle along with my X-52 Pro, un-twistied, and pair of Saitek pedals. The Warthog would rock, but I just put together a new system a few months back and am still in the doghouse for it... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] A tale of 2 hogs
Zenra Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 I'll sell you mine for $408! :smilewink: As for the rudder lack, I think I'm going to try the cheap option mentioned in the SimHQ feature: I did this for DCS Black Shark, assigning the Cougar "Radar Range" knob to the yaw axis after my CH pedals started showing signs of being tired. Works OK for a heli, but I am concerned about how well this might work for a fixed wing aircraft. On the other hand, I've flown under only keyboard control plenty of times while traveling, so anything's possible... kylania Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Thinking back on how I fly, which is quite possibly as wrong as you can possibly fly, I rarely use rudder and when I do I end up "snapping back" anyway and missing whatever I was trying to do. Though, come to think of it I use it for Nose Wheel Steering... ack. Ragtop Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 NO!!!! :( How much for it? I need one BADLY. Haha! I'm afraid I've already got a friend with his TGP point tracking it :P I couldn't do it to my 52 really, it was my first HOTAS and it's served me incredibly for a few years now, and it continues to do so. I think I'll be using the trim in pain for a while, and waiting patiently for the Saitek Combat rudder pedals to arrive. Hopefully soon or I'll have to get the normal set to tide me over! 476th vFG Alumni
