Callyste Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 (edited) Perhaps a small suggestion. Would it not be constructive to have a poll here for the Warthog owners on the site. Reading this entire thread there seems to be no real idea of the extent of the problem. SOme say small number some say large. Well I suppose this forum is a good enough sample of any flight sim community. Have a poll and lets see what percentage of owners are running trouble free, throttle wise that is. This may be a good idea. Just have to keep in mind, there is a huge chance of people who have had a problem to be more inclined to answer the poll, than those who never had. In any case, here is a similar poll that has been posted on a French forum (Check-six! forum): http://www.checksix-forums.com/showthread.php?p=1120780 Translation of the poll: - I have had a problem with my throttle and it had to be changed by TM's customer service : 13.51% (5 votes) - I have had a problem with my throttle, but it was solved without the customer service : 8.11% (3 votes) - I never had a problem : 78,38% (29 votes) Again... with my experience in such polls, people who had problems are more likely to answer the poll than people who did not. These numbers are NOT accurate. However, they still show that there's quite a number of defects out there, and hopefully Thrustmaster will find a solution soon. *crosses fingers* my thottle's still kicking, hope it continues this way! Vlerkies Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Hi Callyste Thanks for that info, I was going to add a poll but could not figure it out last night, to many beers, also thought I would suggest it first rather than just sticking it up there to hear what people thought. (being a noob round here) I am glad to see the numbers you referenced on Checksix. Puts a better perspective on the whole issue. I also contacted Thrustmaster btw, I just explained to them I am dead keen to buy the Hotas, but I was cautious because it costs so much to send it back ond forth and I had seen quite a few issues on various forums and made it clear that although it seems like a huge problem, I do not understand the extent of it (% failure rate). Well they replied quickly to some of my questions and basically said it is a firmware issue in the main that, if I read correctly, that is compounded by certain mobo's in some instances. They asked for my mobo info and I sent them my full pc specs. I will now wait for their reply. Thermaltake View 91, Z390 Gigabyte Aorus Ultra, i9 9900K, Corsair H150i Pro, 32Gb Trident Z 3200, Gigabyte Aorus Extreme 2080ti, Corsair AX1200i, Warthog A-10 Hotas, MFG Crosswind pedals, TiR5 Pro, HP Reverb Pro

RogueRunner Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Latest Firmware 11 and 20, Asus Rampage Extreme II Frek. They did say though that this firmware was not to address the failures. Was hopeful though. I still do not get a sense of urgency from TM also. Very very disconcerting indeed. With the price of ammunition these days do not expect a warning shot.

effte Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Guys, my throttle just bricked on me. Dead. Gone. Not seen in-game. Not seen in control panel game controllers. LEDs on, but nothing home. TARGET crashing when I attempted to run a profile. Shut down to power off to the entire computer. Reboot. Still dead. Unplug. Not there (d'oh!). Replug. Still not there. Feck. Read on here and get ready to ship it to France. Moved all switches and moved throttles to idle cut off. Unplugged again. Went "hmmm". Unplugged the A4 USB mouse in the next USB port and swapped the ports. "Bling" goes the computer. The game controller list shuffled. And... there it is. Problem is, for how long? What happened? Poor quality USB lead? Broken solder point somewhere inside the unit? Can't say I'm comfortable with this until I see an explanation from TM on what they found in the repaired bricked units. I just know it's gonna brick on me the day before departing for a far-away LAN. :/ ----- Introduction to UTM/MGRS - Trying to get your head around what trim is, how it works and how to use it? - DCS helos vs the real world.

galagamo Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 I'm experiencing a little grief when using the ''TARGET" software. When I click on the "get firmware" text beneath the TMWH throttle it just kinda hangs for about 15 seconds, when the program finally starts responding, it doesn't show the firmware for the throttle. The throttle is functioning though. Should I be worried? galagamo Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Have you tried the seperate application for updating your firmware? Yea I downloaded drivers and software from the TM website, and updated the FW before I even flipped a switch. The "get firmware" link was was working at that time, and now its not. I'm on egg shells:cry: Thinking about unplugging it, but worried of the consequences. galagamo Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 I unplugged the throttle and restarted my PC, the throttle reports FW20. Itkovian Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 I just got my own HOTAS Warthog, its sitting right there on the floor besides me (at work for now), and of course this is when I find out about this thread. :) So I was wondering: does anyone have any idea what might be causing this, and what seems to be a remedy? Also, how do I register my HOTAS with TM? I went to the website and I "registered" it but didn't even need to enter a serial number, which is rather strange. So if you don't even register your unit with TM, how do you get support from them (for an RMA, for example)? Thank you. Itkovian
