Release in 2010. Just curious of what others think and expect. I dont think they will make it. But Im ok with it, I have the beta already so its no problem. I prefer to have a more polished product even if that means its a little late. I hope they put much focus in fixing the CTDs, I still have way too much CTDs. I hope the next beta will be more stable.. But I dont expect them to make the 2010 release.

Waiting for 4, there will be 5, and if nothing more, there should be RC. No, I don't see it in 2010. But it's not a problem. Beta is great. I've learned a lot from it's release till now and I have to learn a lot more.

I doubt it, but better to be late and finished than early and incomplete.

 

In any case, you could argue that it has been released in a state that ED acknowledge as incomplete. After all, isn't that what a public Beta is in some respects?

I voted no based on the current state of the beta. I have to state I do not care when it is released as long is the released version is as bug free as possible.

I really wish the Industry would look to DCS as an example. I think more games should do long open betas such as this. Not only does it satiate hunger for the game, but it allows the developers more access to direct feedback from the community. The current model - the long closed beta - appears to not work very well, especially in MMOs. Once the beta goes open, it's too late for new features and major bug fixes. At that point they're only stress testing.

 

I say: If there is more demand for long open betas, let us have them!! I'd be willing to pay an extra $10 for access to the long open beta. Especially when it's as polished as A-10C was.

No, I dont think there will be a 2010 release, but I dont mind, I still have the beta to play. The only negative thing with a 2011 release is that its going to take even longer until we get whatever comes after the Hog ;)

Not necessarily. A lot of the back end engine stuff should transport right over, you just need the FM, cockpit and avionics behavior for the other jet.

Yeah you need "just" all that + MacGyver and you are set for a release just a couple of weeks after :megalol: I dont think we will see the next DCS until two years, but thats just my guess, based on following the development of gaming and sim software for many years.

Just kidding. Do things right before moving on to the next project if possible. Remember there are some bugs left in past projects, so better to get things as close to perfect as possible now before moving on. Thanks ED.

I voted No also, it's better to for ED to take their time and get it as close to perfect as they can. So far I am just working on my T/O's and landing. If it does drag to far into '11 I might have to break into the manual and start learning. I didn't want to print it off and learn it, if there is a chance things may still change.

If they do release a perfect bug free product by the end of the year it will be very impressive acomplishment. I don't think there would be any complaints if final was pushed back to February to make it perfect out of the box.

 

 

I think a video diary of the next project after a10 would make a very interesting subject, something like was done for IL2 1946.

As others have said, the beta calms the hunger, even though current beta is virtually unplayable for me (constant crashes ruins immersion).

So I look forward to B4...

 

Release will be great since we'll actually see some online servers worth playing on
