Guest Cayenne
So why is it being referred to as an RC after an about face of it being called a Final, with a commercial RTM download? A RC is supposed to be "close" to final with a controlled release in the wild to see what problems it has and to track the bugs and fix them BEFORE "showtime" and minor obscure issues that rear their heads later, get patched. In less than one second of the very first flight of ver. 1.1.0, I was staring at the biggest most obvious bug in the sim :no_sad:and its in every single flight and You can't get away from it or fix it Yourself...that I know of and It was not even listed on the beta5 change log. GreenGriffon
Personally I think its unreasonable to pay for a product that hasn't been finished, maybe I am just 'old school' here. I have a BSc in Computer SCience and have never released any program with known bugs in it. By that assertion, I can only assume that by "old school", you mean, "I have never actually released a single line of code in my entire life". Even comparatively simple apps will generate errors that need to be tracked and squashed. Unless it's completely devoid of functionality or features, no software in a complex system is bug-free. What matters is how hard the developers work to isolate and resolve them once discovered. So what do you say we cut ED a little slack, huh? shagrat
WynTTr you are missing the point. I freely admit it is impossible to release thousands of lines of code without there being errors in it. I have been talking about releasing code with 'known' errors in it prior to release. Honestly, Microsoft one of the industries leading software developers as we all surely agree has done this a lot in the past. I guess the reason here was related to the shareholders expectations and the billions, they put into advertising and media campaigns months prior to release of their products. Just imagine you put ads and commercials out telling everybody "Vista is coming!" and then you realise MacOS X is coming and Ubuntu is coming and Windows 7 the "fixed" stuff with performance and no bugs (hopefully) will take another one or two years until it's final, so what? You guess they say: "Sorry, for the big show, but we need some years more time and please don't buy a Mac. Just wait 'til we're finished?" (You can insert Windows 2.0, WindowsNT, Windows 2000 as you like) Many products are forced to the market by marketing because commercial decisions overrule logic and technical expertise that is why we are living in a commercial economy... The positive thing is, though. I guess ED wasn't rushing it out because they needed to, but because we all begged for the next Beta, RC or Final and perhaps they wanted to release it to make us happy! Yes, there are some bugs, but in general it is mostly just annoying but not critical :music_whistling:. It is a lot of fun to fly and I can enjoy most of it. Yes, I do realize it has bugs. Yes, I do realize some bugs have been known and might could have been fixed before the release, but who would have checked if the bug-fixes have not produced other, more critical bugs? The quality control after bug fixing takes time and resources. After new bugs pop up. You start again with bug fixing and so on... :pain: Compared with the release of CoD: Black Ops, DCS: A-10C is a perfectly working release with minor issues. A friend of mine who is more into this shooter-fun stuff, had the full 2 months of pain, paid for a game right before x-mas and so full of bugs that it was(!) not playable at all! ...and it wasn't a bargain either :badmood: I tried a lot of my PC and IT voodoo but it was in the game and not the config or drivers or whatever... And then suddenly there was the patch who fixed it all and with no different drivers, no configuration changes etc. it was simply working as it was supposed to in the first place. So perhaps we enjoy what we have, help getting precise input for the bug-tracking and hope ED developers invest their time in fixing it and not in following these senseless discussions, including my post which doesn't help in fixing them, either. Edited March 3, 2011 by shagrat Shagrat - Flying Sims since 1984 - Win 10 | i5 10600K@4.1GHz | 64GB | GeForce RTX 3090 - Asus VG34VQL1B | TrackIR5 | Simshaker & Jetseat | VPForce Rhino Base & VIRPIL T50 CM2 Stick on 200mm curved extension | VIRPIL T50 CM2 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Plus/Apache64 Grip | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals | WW Top Gun MIP | a hand made AHCP | 2x Elgato StreamDeck (Buttons galore)

Lonecrow66
Yeah but for a release to have some major bugs right off the bat, most companies usually release a patch as soon as possible so it doesn't get a "bad" name. Reviewers are hard at work.. and now some of the crashes and bugs will be in those reviews.. The first patch should be quick... not try and fix everything just the major bugs.
