Chazz_BMF Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 This is awesome. I dont understand why this isnt a part of the dcs series yet. One should think it would be only a matter of having multiple textures running like a simple .gif animation. But hey im not a programmer, so I guess things are a lot more complicated :D :pilotfly:Wolfpack Production:pilotfly: -=<[WiN 10, I7 3770K @ 4,5 Ghz, Corsair H100i, Sabertooth Z77, 16 GB Dominator, Sapphire 7970 VaporX 6GB, C70 Vengance, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, Saitek Pro rudder, Track IR, Beyerdynamics MMX 300 ]>=- DCS/FC2/FC3/Arma videos on my channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/WolfpackproductionDK "Fortes Furtuna Juvat"

AlphaOneSix Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 LOVE IT! At 0:10 into the video, where the vid is showing unit selections, it shows a fictional unit, the "404th Air Brigade". Richard "Flexman" Hawley, who is the lead on the Combat-Helo project, was the leader of the 404th KamiKali virtual LB2 squad back in the LB2 days, of which I was lucky enough to be a member (I went by Ghostrider 16 back then, but too many Ghostriders these days). Awesome to see a shout out to his old virtual squad.
636_Castle Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 (edited) Combat Helo I always look for this title in this sub forum, expecting it to be bumped back to the first page. Surely it'd be seeing attention here. But I never do...so I'm starting to wonder if there's a dedicated thread for it. Since "Combat Helo" returned nothing in the search results, I'm going to create a thread for it. :) Fly the AH-64D Apache Longbow through the dusty valleys of Herat, Afghanistan. Combat-Helo features both front and rear cockpits for the Apache. Each cockpit is rendered in 3D and contains over 200 clickable switches. Both cockpits show case cutting-edge features such as dynamic reflections. Combat Helo will feature a shared cockpit multiplayer experience, allowing you to take the battle online, and fly cooperatively with friends, trading between either the front or back seats of the helicopter. It also features a real-time arming system...allowing you to land, exit your helicopter on foot, manually load each weapon store hardpoint, and enter the cockpit again, all without having to leave the simulation. Combat Helo is an AH-64D Apache Longbow simulator nearing the end of development. However, the developer's are also constructing a fully functional CH-47D Chinook helicopter as well, to either be included in the release of the sim, or available as DLC. aaron886 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Glad you made a thread for it... it really does look impressively good. I love these small simulation development groups, they all seem to really have the right things in mind!
Druid_ Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 (edited) Crikey what did u type in the search? http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=70097&highlight=combat+helo or http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=58260&highlight=combat+helo A reminder of this great indie game doesn't hurt though. winchesterdelta1 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Dam... this game can be great fun. Thanks for letting me know. I think i will try it when it comes out. Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.
Heli Shed Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1228590&postcount=13 It was merged into other posts therafter. Phantom88 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Yeah,Really looking forward to this one,I've been following the developer on Twitter,He's been making some great strides in the code recently. Patrick

There's plenty of updates on the dev blog over the past few months, including one just 24 hours ago. Jan 2nd 2012 - New industrial building pictures. Jan 19th 2012 - Development update on the launcher for Combat Helo March 7th, 2012 - Update on the added development of the KBU. Why do you say development has halted? It seems ongoing to me. The art guy who lives in Bangkok got flooded, and now the programmer guy who lives in the UK has got to deal with financial crap. That doesn't mean the game's not coming out, they just had to slow work on it for a while. I will definitely be buying this game, but do take note: the terrain is limited to 40 km X 40 km. That's the major draw-back to this otherwise promising-looking title. Also, from the looks of it, the flight model and avionics modeling will be good, but not quite up to DCS standards. If first title will success, sequels will have bigger terrain, it's been said already. It's their first game and team is just three guys, they have to start small.

Druid_ Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 (edited) ... Also, from the looks of it, the flight model and avionics modeling will be good, but not quite up to DCS standards. The flight model will be as close as you can get. Richard will be incorporating Fred naar's Helicopter Total Realism (HTR) physics module into CH. Should be as good as DCS. As for the avionics ... to quote the Combat Helo programmer ... "Combat-Helo includes almost all of the Apache's avionic and targetting systems. Each system is finely crafted to simulate it's real counterpart. CH also contains a realistic start-up procedure." More on avionics in CH here The nvg and FLIR is modelled also. Prepare to be surprised. Speed Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 I'm a happy camper with longbow2 avionics standard, given the level of classified data and such small team. When ED makes one, i'l buy that too. Maybe because you don't remember what the Longbow 2 avionics standard was? The Flaming Cliffs 2 avionics standard or example, far exceeds the Longbow 2 avionics standard in many respects, heck, I'd probably say that FC 2 has a better avioncs standard overall. And FC2 is a survey sim. Longbow 2 was a great game, even a decent helo sim for its time (1997), but by today's standard... it sucks for a study sim. Anyway, Longbow 2 was an awesome game though, heck, up to just a few years ago, I was still able to fire it up on my old win XP laptop (after an extensive install process and running apps to deliberately slow my computer to a tiny fraction of its rated performance).
