DCS A-10C landing with 100 knots of wind directly across the runway!

Pushing the limits with the amazing DCS A-10C Warthog. The question: With the wind blowing 100 knots directly across the runway can the A-10C make a safe landing and takeoff with out suffering any damage?

Cheers! :pilotfly:

First thought: "100mph straight across the runway? Hell, you could approach the runway from the side and make a 30mph touchdown!".

...halfway through video: "you don't want to land this way; let's try plan B". Me: *highfives*

Nicely done, I remember I made maximum wind in FC 1, brick could start from about 100-150 meters and missiles were flying really curved way lol :]

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

If you like this sort of thing I recommend MS Flight Sim X....put a 747 on the aircraft carrier with 180 kt headwind and it becomes a VTOL. It's also fun (and easier) to fly around with the C172 in an 80 kt headwind, you can fly in reverse, forward, whatever..try looping the tower continuously..

How did that open canopy not fly off for the ship-landing?

Do they use groundspeed instead of airspeed? Or does the canopy actually not disattach at take-off/landing speeds?

@ OP, great video, thanks. LOL. If any of you have flown aircraft in real life (me only a Cessna 172), that reminded me of a 40+ knot head wind landing I had. Literally stopped in less than 50 feet on a 2500 ft runway.
