I think we should all come realize that the concept of revenge does not work.

Disagree: I am a BIG FAN of righteous payback.

It sure looks like a MH-53 or some other version of the Sea Stallion from the ramp and the hub of the tail rotor. On second view an Osprey would be more likely since those wing panels besides the ramp do look quite huge. Not to stray off topic I would like to congratulate on the liquidation of the most wanted terrorist in the world, especially since we have experienced first hand what terrorism is like in our country as well, fortunately they were not resorting to the use of suicide tactics like in some other terrorist actions across the world.

You call it righteous, but it most certainly always ends up being self-righteous.

The man (if you can call him a man after using one of his wifes as a human shield) got what he deserved, and if others decide to follow his steps now they will know what they can expect to happen to them ...

I don't know what those are pictures of, but they certainly aren't pics of the aircraft that had a hard landing at Osama's compound.

The aircraft that had a hard landing and was destroyed was an MH-60.

Body is confirmed to be bin Laden, the reason for burial at sea, was that they didn't want any fuss about in which country he should be buried.

Just to inform you guys that bin laden was shooting an ak74 at the navy seals ,from the roof top of the building whist they were assaulting it,he then went into the building.

After the seals entered he was behind one of his wife's who was acting as a human shield.

Conituing to fire at us forces.

THATS why they killed him.

Well Sure but he wouldn't be having truck load of AK mags while he was behind his wife. So if he was shooting at US forces they could have let him empty his mag and pounded on him later. If there were any intentions of taking him alive there are lots of equipments with many police departments in US to capture an armed man. So I believe if he was killed it was meant to be.

killing him wasn't the solution , i think putting him into jail would have been a better , and even a more humiliating solution . personnally i don't think that when you're attacked by an axe you should respond with an axe , we're not in the middle age anymore . and i would like to say , frankly i don't see how one could enjoy the news , two wars have been made to capture him with thousands of deaths on both sides , for me it's a complete fail . instead of saying great , we should ask why these extremist movements exist . this story hurt enought people whatever they are american , muslim , iraqi or Afghan

Well the problem in keeping him alive was that his accomplices would have tried to get him out by hijacking a plane or bombing some place like that. One of the key mind behind 9/11 was captured in India and Air India flight was hijacked( from Kathmandu, Nepal) and was flown to Kandahar, Afghanistan. Indian government had to release him and 2 more to save civilian lives. Yet if he was to be killed he was to be entitled a fair trial, then that would had been a civilized act. Because taliban and Al-Qaida did this kind of executions, I'm just searching for the difference here.

It's not hippy shit, it's called logic and human rights. What you propose is anarchy.

Although at the current state of hipocrisy that the western world is displaying towards human rights, i can see how citizens more and more regard them as jokes and not as THE ultimate guideline on how to treat human beings.

More people were and are killed in these three wars than all kills summed up by Saddam, Laden and Qaddafi.

What about the people that were beheaded? Did they get shown and treated with respect? They shouldn't have done the same for him and I'm sure they didn't.

Thats what I'm saying, if we act same as them then what is the difference between them and us. If this is how we deal we aren't at all entitled to call ourselves good guys.

Eye for an eye is the only way for extremists. They have being taught like this since they were 3 years old.

I think putting him into jail would have been a better and even a more humiliating solution

And how long would he last in there before someone kills him?

we're not in the middle age anymore

Al Qaeda and Taliban still are. Have you seen how they are treating their women?

two wars have been made to capture him with thousands of deaths on both sides , for me it's a complete fail

These wars have ensured that Al Qaeda, Taliban and other extremists are to be kept at bay before getting stronger and stronger and before you know it they are outside your house with a bomb strapped on them. Other things too... but I will keep politics out of this.

killing him wasn't the solution

in this case it was the only solution.

Care to provide some info to back this little statement up?

He could be many things, but not dumb. It's quite easy to deduce that he's worth more alive for billions of reasons, from PR to Human Rights, and I wouldn't be shocked if he guessed that one too. Leaving no other option to the SEAL team and making one last fuss before giving up the ghost is something I'd quite expect him to do. If you can't win, the least you can try to do is to rain on the victor's parade, simple logic in any game, and it doesn't take a genius of a journalist to spread the fun-breaker to the masses. By celebrating his death as a FIFA World Cup Final late goal and claiming it was the right way etc etc you're just supporting their effort in leveling moral grounds between "us" and "them".

How, when or even if aren't a crucial matter in the large scale of things - undercover organisations are usually trained and organised in a way that allows every small branch to operate independently to a fair extent. He's indeed the head of the organisation, but so is Queen Elizabeth the head of state the United Kingdom. All the information surrounding this operation, the preparation and its aftermath is the same as nothing, just blurry contradictory gibberish from unofficial sources, and sometimes even from official sources. It doesn't matter what's actually truth and what isn't, this is just a game of propaganda, it's all about who's more convincing. Even if we do hear the truth, how can we possibly confirm that it is actually the truth? Each person will believe in whatever they want to, it's forum/pub table speculation brought to a bigger, better illustrated scale.

It's a great way to see how "human" people are.

Up next: Osama Bin Laden was hiding in Alderaan and was killed accidentally during a Death Star live fire exercise.

Well my 2 cents. Do I think he should have paid for his crimes. YES. Do I think he should have received the death penalty. YES. Do I think he should have been tried in a Military Court. YES. The only thing that we don't know for sure is did he give anyone those options or did he fight back. Well it's like the Bible I guess we will have to make our own minds up based on accounts of the actions taken. Can you deal with Terrorists, absolutely NOT, only one way, you are almost assured you have to play their game and we all know what that is. Cheers.

It has been proven on numerous occasions that the best way to deal with such terrorists is like what we saw yesterday. I agree that common sense and arguments should be used whenever possible in an effort to lessen ethnic and religious conflicts, but once things go out of control and the other side starts to use non institutional means for achieving it's own goals, deadly force should be used if found necessary. Any sign of weakness in dealing with the terrorists will just fuel their ambitions and reaffirm their goals to achieve their agenda from hell.

Or one could start by posting some factual information to begin with instead of making a post to which I first responded to. ;)

Or we can just keep on letting the blanket statements go on and on....

But, I will edit my previous post to better show my intentions since I apparently came off harsh to some. ;)

I`m surprised to see this thread is still open. Exactly what aspect of the death of one man, even if he is Bin Laden, is being discussed here? The forum rules clearly say: no political disputes yet this thread is going for 19+ pages. Mods?

There are no political disputes. Persons are being allowed to comment/render an opinion - within reason - on the Death of an Individual. If you feel offended by a specific post/part of the thread, report the post or as an alternative PM a mod and we'll attend to the matter.

Until then, if you have an opinion on the thread title, state it.

HOWEVER

All think very carefully before responding in haste to the opinion of another: It's then when disputes arise. We are all adults here and capable of conducting ourselves accordingly.....don't disappoint.
