GGTharos Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 So now that he's dead, will you force him to stop flying? :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
-RHP- Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 My WOW moment was when I flew my first mission and fired 4 agm hits on tanks, only to find out it was blue on blue.. and everytime I start up and land the plane, just awesome!
hohider Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Too many wow moments to list The attention to detail is just amazing. I was watching a playback of a mission and was switching views to the different ground vehicles, and was just in awe of the war going on independently of the part I played. I looked at a fuel truck which was part of a convoy and was blown away at the detail. The mud flaps of the truck were swaying in the breeze, and the little cap on the exhaust stack was fluttering. The soldiers inside were even well detailed. It was so detailed I began to wonder if ED's next project was going to be "DCS - Fuel Tanker Truck!" Another thing is the audio of the other aircraft and vehicles. Amazing, especially considering that you wouldn't even really hear most of that stuff from inside the A-10 - but ED did it anyway. These guys are obviously passionate about their work and it shows!!

These guys are obviously passionate about their work and it shows!! Have a look at the Kamaz Truck (the open one). It has a "Air refresher Tree" (Duftbaum) in the cabin :megalol: All the engine, suspension, gear is modelled!!! Most of the trucks sport even an AK-47 lying on the front seat! These guys are into detail, you bet! Unbelievable and absolutely enjoyable to watch the action going on and find detail after detail... Nufsed Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 I have had a few "WOW" moments, but for me the greatest thing about this sim is the people! No one ever moans when a newbie asks for help, even the silliest questions get answered with patience and politness. I'm having the greatest time flying and learning with the guys in the 74th vfs Flying Tigers and I would like to say a big "Thank You" for all the help I have recieved. And I'm honoured to be part of this community. 1 The four things a Wingman is allowed to say... Two Lead, you're on fire. I'm bingo fuel. I'll take the fat one....:( [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

And I'm honoured to be part of this community. Here here!! I'm always impressed at the level of 'professionalism' among most flight sim forums, and DCS is certainly no exception. Of course there are a few bad eggs but for the most part everyone is willing to help. On a side note, I had another Wow moment today. I was flying a Shore mission, was getting intercepted by a Mig29 and asked for fighter support. The fighter support showed up, but my own F-15 hit me with an AIM-120 (even confirmed it in the post-mission brief). Now I guess I could have been upset by that, but I was actually pleased that a friendly fire incident was even possible from the AI.
droz Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Launching 4 maverics in quick succession at 4 targets in a line in Instant Action and watching all of them hit one after the other within a couple seconds of each other. I've only recently had a lot of man hours to put into A-10C as I am currently on holiday; the guys in the community (the STP guys especially) have made the whole learning experience worthwhile. Xxx Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Whilst creating a mission recently, I placed the armoured column's route over a low bridge that crossed a small river. I thought....well thats too easy for anyone to stop the column....blow the bridge! Well, with the bridge blown the tanks (T72's in this case) just left the road and forded the river, which they somehow knew was only axel deep, and continued their advance! I know sometimes we see some dumb AI, but this was my recent wow moment! Those Tankers are competent commanders;) This is much more than a superb flight sim. Its a fine battlefield sim as well:thumbup: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]i7 Haswell @ 4.6Ghz, Z97p, GTX1080, 32GB DDR3, x3SSD, Win7/64, professional. 32" BenQ, TIR 5, Saitek x55 HOTAS. Xxx Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 True, still the AI needs a lot of work, but its getting there. Personally, I'm very pleased with the work so far. Yep! Dont misunderstand me, that scenario with the tanks was exactly what would happen irl! John Wayne accent on...."well pilgrim, they blew the bridge, so we'll just mosey on down to yonder river and ford it" John Wayne accent off! The Ai do some "Wow" stuff, but I know how difficult it can be to just use the Mission Editor to design a mission, so goodness knows how they code the AI? My mind boggles! So if the AI occasionally have a senior moment ( one of my AI helo's likes to crash into hangars when taxiiing to park!) well it could happen irl, just like our infamous "failures";) The greatness of a sim ( speaking personally) is for there to be a wow moment every time you fly........BS and A10 are great sims! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]i7 Haswell @ 4.6Ghz, Z97p, GTX1080, 32GB DDR3, x3SSD, Win7/64, professional. 32" BenQ, TIR 5, Saitek x55 HOTAS. leroy1964 Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 startup My WoW moment was when I finally was able to start the Blackshark up from start to finish (about a year ago) I was very please with myself, maybe not a wow moment but it was for me. Cheers Long time ED flyer here, really enjoying this game and I love to hear others "wow" Moments. Mine was just my past flight here.. Georgian hammer campaign about mission 8 or so, take off an early evening flight, set up all my systems and head out to my IP way point, towing 2 JDAMS and 4 AGMs.. Trim up a LOT to compensate for load differential and the torque, and trim into a 15 degree climb over the mountains. a PERFECT blazing sun is just starting to set along the mountain ridge from my direction (man that thing looks good in this sim!) and I'm flying right into it, actually squinting as if I were outside. Well I execute My Jdam from about 18000 feet (instantly have my left wing drop sharply as my load is displaced... re-trim) and crack a wry smile as I watch the bridge explode on my TGP's Monitor. I send a call into the JTAC from way up here in the air and get my co-ords entered on the fly, find my new waypoint on the TAD and get lucky finding a Shilka first, set up another high level pass and boom goes the dynamite on that bad boy(another awesome wing drop and re-trim), JTAC authorizes re-attack (first time!) and I drop down to a tight orbit at 7000 feet, systematically marking, and killing with AGMs the 3 Tanks, and one poor BDRM.. JTAC calls in and says "no More targets, thanks for the help" (another first).. I hit the shoreline and blast back to Batumi just over 500 feet as dusk settles in... I swear I could here that Top Gun music as I flared on touchdown. All those little touches make for an amazing experience... Thanks ED and all who helped for giving me a way to waste a few more years  Whats Your Wow moment?
Aries Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 ...the day when I finally set up FacetrackNoIR and accidentally turned my view right to the wing & rail sporting an AGM-65 for which I just touched weapon release... WOOOSSSSH!!! :worthy: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] ...the few, the proud, the remaining...
