So, I really love this game(A-10C), the problem is that I can never play it with anyone other than myself.

The problem is one that I understand well. It is a very complex sim that requires teamwork and proper execution of plans when playing. because of this many people password their servers to avoid the whole problem of "Airquake" from occurring. I am all for this, but it seems that whenever I try to get in coms with people to try to join their server and have some fun; 99 percent of the time I get this response, "Sorry Pyro, we can't hear you because we have TARS enabled".

Again, really good program, with some really good uses. The only problem with it is that I can't talk to anyone who is using it unless I am on the same frequency as them. Which would require joining their server. Which in turn would require getting their password. Which would require joining their coms and asking for it.

And thus I am thrown into an endless loop of disappointment and, well... It kind of makes me a little bit angry. It kind of feels like I am being left out when the class goes to the Grand Canyon and I am the only one who can't go because my parents are deaf and blind and couldn't notice when I wanted their signature for the trip form.

I don't exactly know what posting this is supposed to fix, and I don't really expect anything to happen. I just felt like I needed an outlet for my building frustration.

And yes... I am mad... bro...

I can relate, the process of getting online with the sim can be a little daunting. Dont let it discourage you though!

Join up with the 1st Vfw (google search it) or any number of other squads. After a little bit of work getting yourself intoduced and up to speed, you will have no problems finding a group to fly with.

I have to check with some of the senior guys but I'm pretty sure you can join as a guest to get the lay of the land.

I'll pm you when I find out.

Edit: thought it worth noting; if you do intend to join the 1st, be prepared to

do some work getting the procedures of the 1st down to memory. A lot of great and helpful guys over there but you'll be expected to know your stuff

=Iron Angels= Server runs 24 hours a day unpassworded. Teamspeak is provided as well without TARS. It currently rotates between 2 mission automatically every 2 hours. It also uses a test version of ServMan to catch cheaters and idiots. Hop on and give it a try!

My server is also not with TARS and you get the password just by logging on to TS3 when my server is online. Not needed to talk to anyone, it's there in clear text. I will maby open up the server more after ServMan release if things works as I want with it. My server is mostly active duing weekends.

Hey Pyro , i'm terribly sorry what happend this evening .

I saw you joining our teamspeak , probably by following snoopy his link.

I was kinda busy and didnt knew your nickname . So when i heard you on my laptop ( for the people that wanna join that dont have tars enabled i keep it running, so i can talk them in the server) I said something in the lines of :

"Sorry Pyro , we cant hear you cause of we got TARS enabled , and after that said "But i can hear you on my laptop anyway" but you were allready gone. , Feel free to hop in TS anytime and talk the guys in the lobby first . We do use tars alot , but i'm sure we can get you set up for a flight next time .

Thanks for all the advice, I just thought to myself "How hard can it possibly be to play a game?". And once again I stress that I don't harbor any ill thoughts towards anyone, or feel jilted in the least.

And totally Severn, I actually joined your TS because I saw that there were people in game on your server. It was just one of those, "The straw that broke the camel's back" things, y'know?

P.S. I know me leaving right quick like that was bit childish, but it was a reaction to the last time I was on comms with a group that used TARS and couldn't hear me. I spent a little over an hour(as opposed to the thirty seconds with you guys) trying to get any one person's attention, and in the end I realized that it would be a continued waste of time trying to do so.

Maybe I should've bought HAWX, I hear you can start into a multiplayer game in seconds with that :P

Nice work IA!

When eventually some sort of compatibility is hopefully brought with Ka-50/FC2, and the even more anticipated DCS:Fighter, the flood gates will open. With multiroles around, and actual Player Vs. Player is in DCS instead of just co-op, there will be plenty of open servers with no password.

It's a shame that logistically it's hard to get into a good game with comms because there's not some member in channel or automated thing on their website to grant you access. However it's great to hear that TARS is such a big hit. It's a really cool idea and I'm glad it's so common even if it is a bit of a speedbump.

Hosted a quick server, and a TS server running TARS, did not really have any issues. I know it must have been frustrating because they were running TARS, find Ranger79 Coop Server on the weekends, more than welcome to come in and fly with us:

Hm, perhaps guests should have the automatic option of being on GUARD.

Thing about tars. If you click on a members name in TS3 it will show what frequencies they are tuned to.

We use TARS almost all the time in the 25th, it adds a lot of immersion IMO and every mission I host we use it. That being said of course it isn't for everyone. Have you ver gotten TARS to work?

Yeah, TARS works fine for me, the issue comes in when I have no way of getting on the server to speak to the people using TARS because I do not have the password to the server. Getting the password to the server however, would require me to talk to them. Which is impossible because they are on TARS and I am not in-game with them.

never thought about that, but then again, how many people would alt-tab out just to check it? I never do.

# - Paste and post at 5 second intervals until response received.

# - Turn Speakers down for inevitable rant.

# -Inform ranter politely that it would not have been necessary had a more user-friendly method been adopted to ensure members' ease of access and politely request directions to your allocated Airframe.

# - Bid the now embarrassed and duly chastised ranter adieu and hit 'Fly'.

Why don't these servers post the gameserver-password in the TS-chatwindow upon connecting to the TS-server as a welcome message ? If you do the effort to connect to teamspeak you could(should?) be rewarded with the password to the gameserver.

and the Teamspeak information along the first lines of the mission description so that it is freely available even when the server is locked. Hop onto Teamspeak, get the server password and hey presto, you're in- TARS or NOT.

There has to be some give, if other players on the TS arn't using it, then i hardly think you can whine because of that. Just de-activate it for that period and enjoy the MP experience without it. Next time you jump on, it may be more biased towards TARS.

TARS is GR8! simple! HS done a fantastic job and continues to do so with updates and bug crushing, but for any sim pilot out there who uses nothing other and expects to flit between servers and be accommodated at all times, well...................BTGameplay went out of business 20 years ago.

Multiplayer has a lot of potential. I can see why people password their servers though. It is a bit frustrating when all you want to do is fly with some real life people without the added awkwardness of connecting to a TS server and annoucing yourself. For some people that feels like intrusion.

I would personally connect and fly with others, and use text chat for a while until I get to know them a bit, then connect to TS.

I really hope ED bring out a dedicated server that merges with FC2 and Blackshark, along with some good administration tools. That would be the icing on the cake.

Rossi, i have seen your app and seen you on our TS. Hopefully our server will be back up in the next week, and we can progress further.

The 159th GAR server runs alternately FC2 with BS aircraft added and A10C. It is usually only passworded for scheduled squadron flights, and unpassworded the rest of the time (if we remember to do that..sometimes we forget). As well, we have a dedicated TS3 server that is NOT running TARS.
