Yea, when you have more then 6 players, you have to use LAN. I've hosted 14 players with LAN, so i think it's pretty stable. No warping at all.

Anti-social behaviour , In 2 months Ive witnessed it 2 times , even flying on our squad server , doesnt happen very much at all in my opinion

 

Well , this is typical . Right after I posted that post , I bumped into two in the same server . They go by the name of :

 

(1) Ali3N

(2) Azamertic

 

Shot the shit outta me on the pan , and then got booted . Keep your eyes open for these twats folks .

You need to take it up with the relevant server admin - these boards are not host to any MP disputes, which includes shaming/drawing attention to alleged misbehaviour.

When you are on a server that runs ServMan you can use the "/Report" function in chat. That will make it easy for the server admin to find the offenders and ban them.

 

Usage:

/Report "can you please ban Ali3N and Azamertic as they are ruining the game"

 

Write this in chat and PM the admin of the server with the time and date.

 

EDIT: To check that you are on a server running ServMan you can use the command "/Info" in chat. This will display the server settings if ServMan is active.

I thought the auto kick could be set for the team killers and perhaps a 30 day autoban could be set for unacceptable number of team kills.

If you launch a missile and your team mate gets in the path of that seeker and kills him then you could say it’s unintentional fratricide.

I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.

Yes but the server admin can look at the server track and se what happend, keep that in mind.

I’m aware of that possibility, but what if the server has seen enough and can’t be bothered?

Masterarms.se lock our servers for 3 reasons.

 

Our goal is to have a Swedish combat flight community.

We want the members to be on TS.

We want our members to follow our SOP's.

 

Master arms have existed for almost a year now, and we have a thriving DCS and BMS section with some top notch players. So we will probably continue on this path.

 

 

That's all well and good but you have no information regarding any of this in your server description in the lobby. Infact you have no description whatsoever.

How are new guys supposed to know how to get in your server, get in contact with you or join your group? Little things like this can help improve and grow the DCS multiplayer community.

In order to have a decent multiplayer game in a TRUE spirit of the DCS simulation in my opinion you need good communication. There is no classic death match, no "hop in and have fun" mission that is realistic. Most people here enjoy a realistic, properly played mission though.

 

I am forcing people to ask "wtf, why are the servers locked", go to the forums and ask "wtf why are the servers locked". People need to start using brain cells, google, this forum etc.

 

If someone asks "hey, I wanna fly MP but servers are locked. What should I do"? he's gonna get "hey man, we are X, join us on TS/our forum etc lets fly" -> PROFIT!

 

I could as well just type "go to the forum and ask there pls see you soon" in chat and kick the people but I find it easier to just put the eagle forum URL in the server adress.

 

I don't care how decent of a player you are. If you are THAT decent it should be no problem for you to find out how to play with other people. Once you had retards break your mission by shooting/crashing tankers, failing at CAP/CAS/ground commanding you will probably say "feck it" and lock your server to only let people from teamspeak on. At least you can talk to them directly.

 

 

Whenever I have an open session it is usually Dragons Weapontraining, no objectives, no need to communicate really besides the usual "hi, how are you, lets go AA refuel".

 

Sorry if I sound negative but that's how I had to do it and there is nothing wrong with that in my opinion.

For me there is only a couple of simple reasons why every time i fly I lock my server,

 

A) My upload is shocking and Im willing to pay in excess of £40 a month to host dedicated with a 10+meg connection but the facilities are not provided... And im not criticising the server hosts here they'll load anything that might make some moneys.

 

B) The missions are big, the games unstable at the best of times, I dont want to put the fantastic community out all the time with game crashes on my server disconnecting all the clients. Again a dedicated stable server hosting application would combat this.

 

C) There are no in mission controls to spawn units etc so even if I wanted to be a game master for the love of others on the server I couldn't and I cant label the map with the objectives.

 

Each Pilot must be on TS and must get a brief for any kind of decent mission to be taking place where anything is coordinated.

 

I'm not slating everyones favourite design team here... but i genuinely hand on heart dont think that the Sim is designed with the MP market in mind. Im a big Arma fan and ED are in the same place as BI were just before DayZ came out. the Huge community that came from that mod did really show just how S**t the MP design was and how it was essentially held together with duck tape. Since then a load of development resource has gone in and its got a damn site better.

 

Of course there is not going to be any DayZ catalyst but lets just hope in the grand scheme of things ED will stop, sit and look at what would facilitate MP use. Lets hope they start with being court marshalled for team killing and being prometed as you smash. It damn well works fantastic in other sims. (:dunno:Dont look at me nobody mentioned falcon:dunno:)

I feel , with all the changes , from original to world , and other changes that have come out , most of the geeks have been left behind , so I dont really think keeping your server locked for that reason , is valid anymore . We dont keep our server locked , ever , and we dont get any issues at all .

 

And if you do get the odd one , kick him out . Why do the rest of us have to suffer for something that rarely happens these days .

Actually, Badger with all due respect, you're wrong. Anti-social behavior IS a completely valid reason to lock a server. I deal with azz clowns all the time at work. I have no choice. That doesn't mean I have a desire to deal with them when I am relaxing. IN addition to that, I've invested significant time and money in my Computer and Controllers to play the game. I am not inclined to allow a child to act a fool in the server I am providing. Case in Point.

 

A buddy and I have been taking turns hosting a dedicated server for the past couple of weeks now. Last week a person joined in the middle of a mission and started badgering everyone to dogfight. I told him if he joined the Red Side...We'd be happy to dogfight him in an Su-25T. I made it clear there would be no Blue on Blue engagements. He started "accidentally" shooting people down so I kicked him. He CAME BACK and started complaining I kicked him...So I kicked him again.

 

Really?

 

I'm not sure what your definition of Anti-Social is... But THAT pretty much sums it up for me. However, that being said, Our server is STILL unlocked. The same azz clown has joined a few times and we simply kick him the minute he gets stupid. But until I can BAN by Mac Address without programming in LAU... Its the best I can do.

Hey Sierra- I feel your pain man. We run open doors on two full time servers now and I've seen a huge increase in whiners and smackatars. Some people just will not shut up and let it go... Boo hoo why are there only air starts. Boo hoo why are there no tgps? Boo hoo why are there red a10s? Boo hoo why- well you get the point.

 

We are also seeing more profanity than ever before- more badgering...

 

You probably already know about slmods server admin features that allow extremely easy addition of mods as well as auto ban and kick functionality- these work through both reactive (ban in game) to proactive (shared info between servers on known smackatars plugged into bantables.lua). It literally saved our server- well... At least allowed us to keep the doors open.

 

If you weren't using it already I feel compelled to insist on it.

seen it alot in servers and on ts and people that are just well i cant say that but you get the idea

my specs are i5 3570 IVY at 4.2 / 24gig of ram / 2tb of hd / duel gtx570's / 32' 120 hertz led mon. / ch stick ped & throt (VTA-Sniper standby)
