Direwolf Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 When I´m still on the ground, I start setting my ordnance, so I won´t waste time doing that, when in air. But I don´t want to set bomb by bomb, I mean, I want to set a configuration for ALL the similar bombs, for once. I tried to configure a profile for all the GBU-12, for instance, and change the mode from CCIP to CCRP. After doing that on Profile Page (DSMS) I press SAVE, everything looks fine, and I take off. When I am in the air, and select one of the GBU-12, it is back to CCIP mode. Why? I thought that when I saved this profile (for the GBU-12), all the GBU-12 would be in CCRP mode. Why the program didn´t keep my configuration? What am I doing wrong? 1
Harzach Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 When you select munitions via the DSMS, you reset them to their default configuration. Select your saved profiles via the HUD (HUD is SOI, /DMS Left/Right).
cichlidfan Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 When you select a weapon. The name of the profile appears in the hud. When you select by using a DSMS button the profile name will be have 'M/' at the beggining. This is a new manual profile and it's present settings are the defaults for the weapon. This can be useful if all of your 12s, for example, are configured to a particualr profile and a situation comes up where you want something different but don't want to change the whole load. 1 ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Eddie Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Harzach and cichlidfan have already answered, but I've not said it for a while so...... You're doing it wrong.™ ;) On a serious note, it's a mistake a lot of people make. The DSMS weapon profiles are your friend, and can be a great tool if you use them right. I personally set up anything up to 8 or 9 additional profiles while on the ramp, depending on the mission and the ordnance carried. It's far easier to set up several profiles for all the release parameters you think might be useful rather than adjust on the fly over the target. Better to have options you don't need, than need options you don't have. 1
Fakum Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Ok,,, clarification please,,, so when Im on the ramp configuring and saving profiles in the DSMS and then im off and about, when it comes time to select my weapon of choice, the saved profiles I made within DSMS are accessed via "HUD=SOI" then cycle thru the profiles via "DMS" right or left. If I otherwise go back into DSMS and select the weapon, it will function under default paarameters, and NOT saved profile parameters,,, is this correct? Yes that's right. You can also use the SEL rocker on the UFC, or you can open the profiles page on the DSMS and use the up/down OSBs to select the profile you want, and then hit the ACT PRO button on the left to activate it. If you're using DMS left/right (with HUD as SOI) or the SEL rocker, bare in mind that if you're in guns mode (a-g or a-a) that'll select different reticules rather than cycle your DSMS profiles. You need to be in CCIP, CCRP or NAV mode for it to cycle profiles. Just something to be aware of if you've just gun in for a guns run and then want to come back around with rockets or bombs or something. If I otherwise go back into DSMS and select the weapon, it will function under default paarameters, and NOT saved profile parameters,,, is this correct? Yes, that's exactly right. If you want to drop a specific weapon you can select a DSMS profile and then de-select particular station(s). That way you can still control exactly which munition is used, but still use your preconfigured profiles.

Laud Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Is there a way to create profiles by editing a file, so it would be available for each flight, rather than having to create them for each sortie??? cichlidfan Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Is there a way to create profiles by editing a file, so it would be available for each flight, rather than having to create them for each sortie??? I thought I saw something about this some time ago and IIRC the answer was no. I understand that if you are ramp starting there is plenty of time to edit profiles but, 1) I don't ramp start every time I fly and 2) it gets tedious after a while since I find myself making many of the same changes repeatedly. I would love to have a canned set a of profiles, especially for my own training missions that I am always going back to!:book: ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! kylania Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 For missions you are creating yourself you can use Prepare Mission to set all that kind of cockpit stuff up ahead of time, right? Evil.Bonsai Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Is there a way to create profiles by editing a file, so it would be available for each flight, rather than having to create them for each sortie??? +100. I'd think IRL, the pilot might have specific profiles uploade from tape (that goes with them from plane to plane if needed?) and not have to create new ones each and every time? Too bad we can't have our 'own' plane that's setup a specific way and we could just choose it when creating a mission. I under stand the need for being able to set specifics each and every time but it does get tedious with some things. As an example, I hate either having to turn on all the internal light settings to how I want or turning off the flood settings for in-flight planes set to a default value.
