Mirtma Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 (edited) I've tried to drop two CBU 105's in one run and second was aborted. I get XXXX XX message on DSMS screen. I've tried to reload aborted bomb (like hanged store) but no luck. How can I get rid of this? :helpsmilie: Edited November 28, 2011 by Mirtma Picture Gigabyte Z490 Gaming X | i5 10600K@4700 | 32 Gb DDR4 @ 3200Mhz | Gigabyte Aorus GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11G | MONITOR IIYAMA 24,5" LED LCD @ 1920 x 1080 | Windows 11 | Saitek X-55 Rhino | TrackIR 5 Pro

Mirtma Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 Have you got a track file? No. When I Alt+Tab to search manual, DCS crashed (it does this often in latest version). WarriorX Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 (edited) The box with the XXX's in your DSMS screen is for the GAU-8 cannon round count. The X's mean the gun is not functional, either through damage taken, or random fault. The CBU 105's aborted message may be due to a "quick pickle" or a failure to release the weapon within it's drop envelope. You can not reset a hung 105 IIRC, you have a short 15 seconds (hope I am remembering the right number!) to attempt a re-release after the first attempt. Multiple CBU 105 releases in one pass require multiple SPI's and the time to switch between those SPI's and still be in the weapon release envelope for each SPI. Mirtma Posted November 29, 2011 Author Posted November 29, 2011 Yes, that's it. It's obvious two things at same time. When I was waiting to drop second CBU, I've got hit somewhere in front and fail to release CBU. Tnx for clarified this to me. +1 Gigabyte Z490 Gaming X | i5 10600K@4700 | 32 Gb DDR4 @ 3200Mhz | Gigabyte Aorus GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11G | MONITOR IIYAMA 24,5" LED LCD @ 1920 x 1080 | Windows 11 | Saitek X-55 Rhino | TrackIR 5 Pro

Eddie Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Warrior, would power cycling the pylon and doing a DTS Load All possibly fix that? Nope. With a quick pickle, as Warrior said, you have 15 seconds to retry the release, after which the weapon goes in to it's aborted state. This can only be 'fixed' by the weapons techs on the ground, once aborted the weapon is done for that mission.
Tailgate Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 I also noticed a big message that mucks up both MFD's after an abort, forgot what it reads, What is the best way to reset that? Select a different weapon, clear the inventory? I think I jettisoned it which I believe took care of it.

From the manual: Page 293: Clear Hung Station. This is a common error when the pilot does not hold down the weapon release button long enough when dropping a bomb. This warning and ability to use the weapon is resolved by reloading the hung station. This is done by... Page 563: When In Range, you can HOLD DOWN the Weapon Release button to drop the weapon. Do not simply tap the weapon release button or this could result in a hung store. And as for 'clearing' the error, it's not a software issue, it's physical and software processes that take place in the weapon when the pickle button is pressed that cannot be reversed.

bluepilot76 Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Hi, I was just having a bit fly around in instant action trying to get my keys setup again. I fired a really long burst on a tank, way more than I would normally use in a proper mission. The gun stopped and the XXs came up. I didnt get any caution lights and no damage was modelled externally, however I was getting fired at by the tanks turret mount so I suppose I could have been hit, however it occurred to me that maybe you can jam the gun if you fire for too long. bluepilot76 Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 So I must have got hit then,,or my memory is failing..both highly likely. Anyway it was a new one for me.
