Mt5_Roie Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Is there an easy way to simulate car traffic on the sim? I know I can set up a vehicle and have it on road to another desitnation but wasn't sure if there was a setting that would just have random traffic driving at all times. Was trying to create a mission where you need to find a specific vehicle to destroy without harming any civilians. Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester
upupandaway Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 There is an option to enable civilian traffic (off, low, med, high - i think). You will get random traffic and in addition to that you can add one specific vehicle that needs to be tracked down... That what you meant? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Deedle, deedle!
Mt5_Roie Posted December 6, 2011 Author Posted December 6, 2011 Right there is the option (I always thought it meant civilian air traffic). But if I have a mission that depends on traffic, I can't force them to have a specific setting can I, since it's on their options screen? I was going to add the vehicle I want tracked and destroyed myself....but would help if it blended nicely with traffic. Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester
MadTommy Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 (edited) Civ Traffic is the setting for random ground vehicles & trains. No random air traffic unfortunately. So yes.. turn this on the have truck, buses etc driving about.. upupandaway Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 It woudln´t be a problem to add a vehicle that blends in well. There´s all sorts of strange vehicles driving around already - military fuel trucks, camouflaged trucks... I´m not 100% sure but I think you cannot force the civ traffic settings in your mission/PC for another user. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Deedle, deedle!

cichlidfan Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Ultimately, from a 'blending in' point of view, the real problem is that your vehichle is not going to pace the civ traffic properly and it will pass right through them since they are like moving trees.;) ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Mt5_Roie Posted December 6, 2011 Author Posted December 6, 2011 That's true. I would have to play with the speed of the unit since I can slow it down to try to make it not too obvious. Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester

I believe that if your aircraft is below 20 feet, civilian traffic has the right of way!:D ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Grimes Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 The other fun aspect of civ traffic is blowing up bridges causes MAJOR traffic jams! Bushmanni Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 If you crash into a civilian vehicle at high speed you might sometimes blow up or more often the program crashes. With slower impact speed there's no CTD but sometimes the game doesn't detect the impact and I just pass through the vehicle. The most funniest moment was when I was trying to land on a truck other one on oncoming lane bumped my Sharks wingtip and sent me spinning wildly while no damage occurred to either one. HiJack Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 I dont know why but civil cars activated or not set on a MP mission affects performance on the server it self! I found it mandatory to enforce disable on all MP missions running on my server. I truly belive this have had a great impact on performance. And my server is set to NOT render 3D. (HJ)
