His sound/tone is pretty hard/strict/harsh/severe. Am I doing something wrong, I ask myself? I did hit the target(s) OK anyway?

Later I found out "Abort, abort, abort!!!" means I'm doing something wrong, right?

Is there any JTAC vocabulary available?

abort abort abort means somebody else took out the target . Happend to me when my wingman sniped my target 2 seconds before my missle hits. Needless to say he is looking for another job right about now. (lucky I didnt shot him on sight)

That JTAC message can also be triggered if you use a weapon on the JTAC's target that was not specifically requested in the 9-Line brief.

I'm getting this message, too, and am not understanding why. In a mission I've flown several times before (Bahger's MIDNIGHT RUN) I release the requested LGB on the bunker he's laser designated. Just before the bomb hits the JTAC calls "TERMINATE, TERMINATE...", immediately followed by "Good hits. Target Destroyed. Thanks, that's all for now...". As i said, i've flown this mission several times but never got this before 1.1.1.1, so maybe something about the logic changed?

Can there a an idiot guide to this?

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Yeah I had the same issue with the on call CAS flight. Now I don't cut them lose until I have prosecuted my primary.

In fact more often then not I don't cut them lose until I am Winchester. I can't stand having a juicy tank all locked up only to see it friggin' explode just before I rifle.

The 'TERMINATE' call is when the JTAC obtains a positive visual that the target (group) is destroyed during a Type 1 or Type 2 engagement.

Makes sense, but seems to be just a tad out of order in my last three tries in the MIDNIGHT RUN mission.

Or worse yet, right after I rifle...

One more question: If the target is for example 3 tanks and the JTAC is lasing one of them, with mavericks it would be easy to take them out with one run. Should I kill only this lased one first and wait until the second one is lased? And then destroy it. And so on.

Of course if I use CBU-97, they'll all be gone with the first run anyway.

Sounds right. But what does the "Stop" part mean?

Actually just missed the target, and still got the "TERMINATE".

Have they done something with the 1.1.1.1 patch? 'Cause all I get to say to the JTAC now is "ATTACK COMPLETE". He just gives the "Clear to engage" instantly. I think the "Clear to engage" is the queue you're looking for to be able to attack the target without the "TERMINATE!" or "ABORT!" happening (unless the target gets destroyed or something else out of the ordinary happens).

Probably using type three engagement rules where he just tells you to hit the stuff and tell him when you're done.

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

Ah yeah... All missions I flew to make a useful track of how to JTAC was type 3 ^^ Hence, no useful track :music_whistling:

I also noticed the JTAC is a little nervous and starts yelling over the radio ... but in the end he always comes up with "you may depart" and the only thing I'm concerned with is looking though the TGP to see whether I hit the target; often you're lucky and you take out two for the price of one missile!

We do need a "shut up and take cover" message :D

STOP = stop IR illumination of a target

TERMINATE = stop laser illumination of a target

Jepp, thanks for the information and link!

TERMINATE

1. [A/S] Stop laser illumination of a target.

2. In training, cease local engagement without

affecting the overall exercise.

Didn't know the 1st one at all. I was mainly fixated on the 2nd one (= cease engagement). So I think I understand the JTAC better now.
