I bought some saitek ones once but they kept locking up and I gave up fixing them after the 5th time. Very plastic.

You won't regret it. My advice is not to install the software disc they send with it,complicates things. Just pug in the usbs nd the game will recognise them. If u have head track u will need to recalibrate the trim button from looking around to its trim use.

Enjoy,its another level all together.

The steel gets cold and the grip is quite large, i can't really push the red, pinky and index finger buttons at the same time. So i got myself a pair of running gloves with a bit of grippy silicon on the fingertips :)

Small hands here, too. I actually cut a layer of foam to raise my hand a bit. Is is a bit in the way if I need to hit the NWS button but otherwise perfect.

Grats on the purchase, you will not regret it.

I could be wrong, but I believe you have to download/install the TARGET software if you want to control the backlighting on the buttons. The setting varies from off to 1 for lowest intensity to 5 for very bright. Default value is 2, but I found that to be a bit too bright for me, so I reduced it to 1 using the software. The setting remains even if you don't run TARGETagain.

upon getting the warthog I dug out an old pair of nomex gloves that i kept as souvenir from my service. grip is better, but it gets to warm to use though.

Since don't use much rudder (except for taxing and landing under windy conditions), I'm just gonna go with the left/right arrow keys. Won't be much of a difference to me as I used HOTAS hat switch for rudder on my soon-to-retire X52.

Thanks for all the best wishes and advices! :)

How do you make a coordinated turn with out rudder?

Rarely used the rudders in flight unless you were fine tuning the gun cross placement. On the jets we used in competition we actually put a yaw string on the nose to fine tune the rudder trim. Low tech and works great. Gliders use them. Only IR we had was the IR Mav. We were just getting into NVDs. The helmet mounted sight is in work for the A10. It is like a hud projected on your visor. Also a head tracker for weapon aiming.Leroy

The system coordinates most turns. Kicking rudder in a turn close to the ground will get you killed. I was dogfighting a squadron mate once. I had saddled up on him and was closing for the gun kill. He did some impossible last ditch maneuver (probably kicking rudders to spoil my tracking shot) and shot a 20 foot flame from one of the engines due to airflow disruption and compressor stall. Needless to say I called "Knock It Off." He was a bit of a prick and had challenged me to the fight because he thought he was better than me at air to air. He was writing checks his butt couldn't cash as they say in the movies. He lost badly. Luckily it didn't hurt the jet. The Hog is tough!

Nomex flight gloves. Leather palms. The stick looks nice. The real one is a very dense plastic material. It will never feel like the real thing unless you put it on a 2 ft pole.

I am searching for a gaming desktop. This gets expensive.

It is called computers and software. It senses yaw and corrects it. Same as the airliners I flew. This ain't your Father's Buick. It also corrects for trim changes when the gun is fired.

Thankfully, for many reasons, I have well endowed hands. Do tell me though. What does pushing all three together do?

Hi all.

Mine did the same thing. This was my solution to the crappy plastic build...Nothing a nice thick piece of MDF and 4 bolts wont fix

(Now thier out from under my desk I must clean them):music_whistling:

Ha. I did the same thing. We were issued the green nomex flight gloves and flight suits. It was at the time when the Marine Corps was switching to the MARPAT Cammies and they were melting when on fire. When we deployed we would wear flight suits. I had an extra pair of gloves I never used that I fly with now (my other pair is pretty beat up). I feel kinda silly wearing them but if I don't the stick gets sweaty. I don't remember that being a problem on my X-52, or maybe I just didn't care because it wasn't a $500 piece of hardware.

Just a hand size test.

I have to raise my palm a bit to reach and firmly push the red button, i can't keep it on the rest. FA18-style stick is better, IMO.
