It would be very "cool" if a (semi) working IFF would be implemented - but I had (very,very) often the experience that I entered a (BS1/2) on-line map where everyone had set their own data-link ID to 1 and even after asking them to switch - no one have mastered this... ( some of this maps where populated of infamous forum members that seem to know better...) very frustrating.... - never-mind- So as I self want this to be implemented- I hope that there will be a function to switch it of in MP-enviorment. Why: I know that IFF will only work in a controlled environment - and this is only doable in a organized squadron. I'm unfortunately not in the position to join a squadron to get the most out of this sim -as my private live and work simply doesn't allow this right now... But I also would like to see it - even if this can be a pain in the nass. - to implement - and to manage "in-game". Edited March 3, 2012 by PeterP

Combine that with Mode 3 requirements (don't forget to set your Alerts in IFFCC), and you can add a whole layer of procedural bliss. It might even mean something once the FC3 Eagles are prowling the skies in MP. Before you know it, 2 will be asking you to pass a mickey on Uniform. If you'd asked me before I'd ever played this, I'd have said 'Duh, yes', but given that I don't think I've ever seen a TOD switch, I have my doubts. Still, hearing the adorable pitter-patter of tiny frequencies being jumped around would be nice :D And yes, since most likely the next DCS product will feature a radar dish of some kind, it's probable that some sort of IFF modeling will come with it, so I guess getting into the habit now is the thing to do - though ED needs to fix the bug of the damn Mode 4 code dial being set to 'Zero' in chocks, which is *not* where it should ever be... Not only it would be a pain to code the AI to deal with this correctly, but I also doubt that most players would want to bother remembering what corridors to fly (Especially when their MFDs and IFF wink out) and other IFF procedures. Demongornot Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 (edited) Not matter what it is (F16 F15 F18 ) the next DCS aircraft will have a radar and the IFF of the next aircraft and in the A10C will be really useful. Anyways A10C will know big change (like BS2) for using EDGE and other new thing who will coming with FC3 and after with the next aircraft with EDGE and new feature, and if in FC3 we can really use IFF function and RADAR in planes or if we will need to wait for the next aircraft, the IFF panel will be patched cause actually it not work at 100% (cause its useless actually, or almost). If aircraft with radar who can really use IFF coming and patch for complete the actual in DCS the IFF panel will begin to be useful. And the radio encrypting are useless cause we don't have VoIP in DCS, maybe ED will give us a correct version of the multiplayer without stupid lag and packet lost and better bandswitch for VoIP and finally have better than TARS directly integrated into DCS and in this case the KY-58 will be useful ! I hope ED will do it, and its not complicated to integrate VoIP and correct actual multiplayer...
